Bogart74 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Hey Guys I need a little help. I have only had the game a couple of months so I know I still Have a lot to learn. I don't know how to lock a target up once I get the cursor over the target. When I watch the training video's, they can shoot a target 10 miles away. I would like to know how to do that. Can anyone help?
schurem Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Press the target designation button. If needed, bind one in your controls setup. I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
Bogart74 Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 I have done that but it doesn't seem to work. That would be the "Enter Button"? I will try again. Thanks for your reply.

schurem Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 In that case, it's going to be complicated Not everything you see on your radar is close enough to be tracked. Might I recommend some of Wags' excellent introduction video's to the Hornet radar? Perhaps you'd rather read than watch. I know I do. If so, check out Chuck's Guide to the Hornet: https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/ But perhaps the *best* way to learn is to use the interactive training missions in DCS. Good luck, and keep on askin' questions! There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers! 1 I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
Bogart74 Posted September 11, 2021 Author Posted September 11, 2021 Thanks again for your help. Have been watching video's and reading too. Thanks again from Bogey74 Northern New Jersey!
Mikeck Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 My bet is that the target isn’t actually being detected by your radar. It is likely “donated” by the awacs through your datalink. You can see it on your radar screen b/c the awacs is telling your radar it is there. Until your own radar detects it however, you can’t lock it. Make sure your radar elevation is such that the enemy aircraft is within the beam.
