Hey Guys I need a little help. I have only had the game a couple of months so I know I still Have a lot to learn. I don't know how to lock a target up once I get the cursor over the target. When I watch the training video's, they can shoot a target 10 miles away. I would like to know how to do that. Can anyone help?

What aircraft are you flying? It can make a difference.

In that case, it's going to be complicated 😉 Not everything you see on your radar is close enough to be tracked. Might I recommend some of Wags' excellent introduction video's to the Hornet radar?

Perhaps you'd rather read than watch. I know I do. If so, check out Chuck's Guide to the Hornet:

But perhaps the *best* way to learn is to use the interactive training missions in DCS.

Good luck, and keep on askin' questions! There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers!

My bet is that the target isn’t actually being detected by your radar. It is likely “donated” by the awacs through your datalink. You can see it on your radar screen b/c the awacs is telling your radar it is there. Until your own radar detects it however, you can’t lock it. Make sure your radar elevation is such that the enemy aircraft is within the beam.
