Is there a way to get a blanket of cloud taking into account that density settings above 8 cause my game to crash out? No. But I seem to recall that some people have the crash problem, if they have their water settings on the highest (or one of the two highest??) levels. You might try playing with that. For instance what settings in the weather system would create this look: Cloud densities of 9 or 10.
