Speed Brake Axis Control Binding?

Has anyone ran into this issue where I would love to use a free slider axis on my throttle for a speed brake lever but I guess I cant bind it?

Yes, I know its a button IRL so dont yell at me but I feel like regarding controls, giving as many options as possible would be great?

If anyone's tried this by writing up their own commands or editing some files let me know how you did it.

You should be able to do it with the Virpil software, providing you have a VPC throttle: you could then for example use the axis-to-key function on the flap lever. Functionality wise it won't be correct though: you won't be able to set the flap lever to half for example and expect an intermediary speed brake setting.

Scanning the LUA's there's a small chance. The default bindings that work relatively for extend/deploy use hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE. There's a THROTTLE_SPEEDSPEED_BRAKE_EXT listed further down in the command defs that might be absolute. That would likely just be the axis for the button though, not the speed brakes themselves. I'll have to try it later.

 

But if you just want to control the button with the axis, like @Raven (Elysian Angel) wrote, software is likely the better play here. I use Joystick Gremlin to map 7 virtual buttons to the slider on my warthog throttle, 1 button for middle 10%, and then 3 buttons for upper/lower ranges of the axis. Seems like an approach like that would work for you with the speed brake.

So I DO have a new Virpil and I would love to use that big lever for speed brakes. Ill have to look into it more
