Gahrek Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 (edited) Hello! This issue seemed to start after the last update and I can't really fly my F16C without this issue happening. I will perform a cold start either with autostart or manually. After I start taxiing, the EQUIP HOT warning light turn on until I throttle back down again. I'm not really sure what to do about it as this has never happened before. If I ignore the issue, my plane with start to behave erratically and will be difficult to control. Taking off can even be difficult as maneuvering is effected. Seems like various equipment in the plane overheats and starts to malfunction by ignoring it. EDIT: I just realized the map I'm playing ( Syria ) the temp was set to 42C. / 107F. Could this be the issue? And if so.. does this mean you can't fly a F16 in hot weather? Maybe this needs to be adjusted. At what point can you fly the F16 normally? Should I just set all maps to 30C to avoid the issue? Edited October 3, 2021 by Gahrek
Silvester.E Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Hi, Seen similar notifications so now and then at PG (Hoggit) when taking off and during landing. I personally don’t feel any strange behavior on the aircraft itself, but also don’t know what to do when the message pop’s up. The message seems to disappear with no strange behaviors. following.
Gahrek Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 yeah for now I've just made sure I set the temperature lower on my custom maps. Most multiplayer maps seem to be set on 30C, which doesn't create a problem. For some reason mine was set on 42C which apparently is too hot to operate a F16. I think this is a bug though and needs to be raised more, but we'll see. I think the longer this warning is on, the more damage that can be done. I've had it damage my avionics and I think the FCS a few times already. But no problems once I set the temp of the map lower. 1
darkman222 Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 You have to set the air source to "norm" otherwise the avionics wont be cooled, causing them to overheat. I tried a cold and dark start. But the switch is already in "norm" position. If not, you would have to set it there. Maybe you accidentally set it to off. With engines are running , if you turn it off instantly the "equip hot" light illuminates. I would expect it to take some time to overheat. Dont know how far implementation goes. Just set it to norm and your Viper should be ready for the desert. EDIT: I just realized the switch is in the correct position in your screenshot. Weird.
Frederf Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Equip hot already de-powers the FCR but if it didn't turning that off would be a good first step. It still might be a good idea to prevent bouncing over-under the limit repeatedly. In general turn off what doesn't have to be on. You might benefit from a slightly elevated throttle setting as well. 42C seems like a rather mild temperature to be getting insufficient ECS. The caution light triggers on both temperature and pressure which might suggest something with RPM and pressure.
