Starting APU

Hey guys, I know this isnt the place to ask for support, but please ED indulge me. First let me say this sim is amazing, and a great place to learn the cold and dark ramp start before the english version comes out.

 

However I am following Shepskis wondering flow checklist, but for some reason cannot get the APU started, It runs up I get the top two lights, Apu valve open, and APU oil press Nom, But the damn APU just isnt catching, it just runs back down again, Could someone please tell me what im doing wrong, All power is on, Apu cutoff valve is open, fuel pumps on, switch set to apu and press start, followed the flow check all the way to start apu, then it goes wrong, Tried following vids but if i follow then i get nothing.

 

 

Please dont lock ED, at least not till I get a working answer ;)

Here a lot to translate but follow the used keys.

• Открыть перекрывной кран ВСУ [L + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT] [L + RCTRL + RSHIFT], при этом на панели ВСУ загорается светосигнальное табло КРАН ВСУ ОТКРЫТ.
  
• Включить подкачивающие насосы переднего и заднего баков выключателями НАСОСЫ БАКОВ – ПЕРЕД [A + LCTRL + LSHIFT], НАСОСЫ БАКОВ – ЗАДН [D + LCTRL + LSHIFT], при этом на САС верхнего пульта загораются табло зеленого цвета уведомляющих сигналов БАК ПЕРЕДНИЙ и БАК ЗАДНИЙ.
  
• Установить переключатель режима работы ЗАПУСК – ПРОКРУТКА – ЛОЖНЫЙ ЗАПУСК [E + LALT] в положение ЗАПУСК (панель управления запуском двигателей на левом пульте).
  
• Установить переключатель двигателей ВСУ – ДВИГ ЛЕВ – ДВИГ ПРАВ – ТУРБОПРИВОД [E] в положение ВСУ (панель управления запуском двигателей на левом пульте).
  
• Нажать кнопку ЗАПУСК [HOME]. Выход двигателя на режим холостого хода происходит автоматически и контролируется по загоранию табло зелёного цвета ВСУ ВКЛЮЧЕНА (на панели ВСУ).

Glad to hear you've got a copy up and running mate. And you are right, it's pretty damn awesome :)

 

As for your APU problem, it's a bit of strange one. I've been following Wags' ramp start video and it works a treat. Have you got any buttons mapped on your joystick that may be inadvertently switching something off when you're starting up?

no probs sorted it out, had the engine start up selector.crank.shut off switch in middle instead of up, All running now. though did go out of control twisting violently to left when i moved rpm to auto, must be something else i did wrong, But hey at least I got to see some great damage modelling :)

Did you take the rotor brake off? Its worth downloading the high res producers note vids rather than watching the youtube ones, you can see much much better exactly what wags is doing in them. Good luck, I am still waiting for the Russians to ship my Shark. :-(

Roger that. In Wags vids he took the rotor brake off as soon as he opened the fuel cutoff for the left engine. Cowboy is well past that point and is cranking the throttles up.....I don't know for sure but I am thinking doing that with the rotor brake on might produce the effect he is referrering to. :huh:

all sorted, as normal user error, Now flying around doing silly aeros and only falling out of the sky now and then :) think the above error was to do with a control bug, I installed the patch from 1c and no probs anymore, Just learning the checklist off by heart now, Damn this is going to be fun. Thanks for everyones help
