Refueling only to 17.000lbs

Hi,

I managed to refuel F14 till disconnection message from the tanker but it finished at 17.000lbs. Is it normal ? The probe switch was in upper position. Thx

Hi

Did you had external fuel tanks? Not 100% sure but F14B internal fuel is 16.100 lbs. With 2 external fuel tanks is 20.100 lbs

If the tanker is out of usable fuel it can give you, it will also disconnect

Jester will give you a "Topped off" when you fill the internals even if you have the bags on, Did you get the message from the tanker or jester?

Also, the probe extend switch has three positions. Retracted, extend internal, and extend external. If it was only in the extend internal (1st click), then only the internals get filled regardless if you have bags on or not. Extend external fills all tanks.

The probe switch was in upper position I mentioned it in the first post.

The tanker disconnected the probe and message transfer complete. Tested today same mission. I started with 7000lbs and finished with 16.100lbs today. 
 

Could it be because the tanker is really out of fuel? I was using Viking. I saw 16.600 fuel capacity on wiki for Viking.  Is this total capa including fuel for Viking itself or fuel reserved for refueling ?

Viking has very limited fuel capacity. A Tomcat with or without bags carries more fuel than the S3 can. S3 in refuel configuration has its internal tanks and one external tank typically on the right wing, and the refuel pod on the left. Total fuel was around 15K. 
 

Sounds like your getting all the fuel you can from the S3 before it hits its reserve. 
 

For full tanks on your Tomcat, you’ll have to get gas from either a KC-130 or the KC-135 MPRS.
