HvanE Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 Flying SP missions, 9 out of 10 times when contacting ATC with the intend to land at their base, I get “Go to alternate “ as an almost standard response. I did read a posted conversation similar to this, but applicable to carrier operations. My flying is purely to/ from land based airfields. Any solutions to fix this irritating issue? Murdok.

My understanding is that if you're tying to land at an airfield not assigned to your coalition, you will receive no response to ATC. But it might be the case that it tells you to go to an alternate. I'm not sure, it's been quite some time that I've tried it. You will also get told to divert to an alternate if another aircraft has crashed on the airfield anywhere. HvanE Posted October 16, 2021 Author Posted October 16, 2021 Thanks for the reply, TOTEN. Further “ research” into the issue shows the “very poor” ATC AI within DCS to be the most likely cause. Guess we just have to wait for ED to spend some time on elevating it to a more enjoyable standard. Regards.
HvanE Posted October 16, 2021 Author Posted October 16, 2021 (edited) Further to my earlier, the issue of ATC transmissions such as “hold position”, “unable to clear for take off”, and my favourite “go to alternate”, appears to be connected a User Mod (Swiss Air Force Axalp KAFA System (Emergency Arresting Cable)), when placed on the airfield runway in questions. DCS regards this as an "Obstruction", hence the resulting ATC instruction(s). I ran several simple missions with and without the User Mod and without fail, “with” resulted in having to go to an alternate, while “without” resulted in the usual ATC banter (Steer xxx° for xx nm, QNH, Rwy in use). If the KAFA Mod. is part of your DCS setup, perhaps one of you jocks can run a simplified mission following the above criteria and see if you get the same result. Regards.
