GeneralMav24 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) Hey was taking out Rb-75 for night mission and noticed its impossible to see through the screen in Bhot and Whot modes, is there a “night filter” or brightness knob for that screen that i am missing? (The rb-75 one not radar) Edited October 19, 2021 by GeneralMav24
TLTeo Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) See the image attached. However, the variant the Viggen carries is an optical/TV guided variant so it shouldn't be effective at night. Edited October 19, 2021 by TLTeo 1
QuiGon Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) As @TLTeo said: The Viggen uses the AGM-65A, which has an optical seeker, which doesn't work in darkness (just like human eyes). It's not like the AGM-65D or F, which have IR-seekers, which don't care about illumination. MYSE1234 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 What you need is a wingman with illumination bombs going in before you. 2 Viggen is love. Viggen is life. 7800X3D | RTX 4070 Ti S | 64GB 6000MHz RAM |
jacobs Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Is it possible to command wingman Ai to drop illumination bombs near target area without heavy scripting the mission?

It does not seem to be possible to get the AI to drop any illumination bombs from what I could see. Depends on what you define as "heavy scripting". This is the bare minimum I think. It does the job well enough for the amount of work put in, it's a 1 minute job for this basic setup. 1 Viggen is love. Viggen is life. 7800X3D | RTX 4070 Ti S | 64GB 6000MHz RAM |

I'm in doubt here... you said it IS NOT possible to make AI drop illumination bombs, and than showed how to set it up using triggers and events. Anyway, I'll try that tip latter, thanks a lot!

The game will simply just spawn in an illumination bomb when the selected aircraft enters a trigger zone. It's a "cheat", but it works. You can of course make it more advanced than above, this is just the bare minimum needed. Edited October 20, 2021 by MYSE1234 2 Viggen is love. TLTeo Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Do JTACs use illumination flares? If that's an option and you're doing CAS, I'd go with that. If you're doing some sort of deep strike mission at night, that's what the radar/nav bomb delivery modes are for
