Peter22 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Hi guys, I am sure that here is a lot of people using nvidias cards, I do have XFX GeForce 8800 GTS running with Intel Core2 Duo E6850 3Ghz 4MB but to be honest my fps are around 25 , when nothing is going on they go up to 35 and when I have a lot going on down there , specially explosions and ground forces movingfps go down to 15-17 , I do have everything in high and water in normal, smoke in turbines on, I know if I low down those settings I will have a better performance, However my point is make my pc handle the best way I can having the game running in full. Any suggestions, is anyone using enhancer? Please let me know how you settings are so I can try Thank you Peter22 My Rig:I7 4790K OC to 4.5 GHz .Memory ram 16GB 64 Bit MOB Asus Maximus hero VII Nvidia NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 T Asus Monitor 4K at 3840x2160 Windos 10 64-bit on SDD 500 and DCS on separate SSD drive. badaboom Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Turning Water to 1 or 0 has seemed to help some people ...\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua set ["water"] = 1 or 0 values of 2 and 3 are the in-game options __________________ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

JG27_Arklight Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I run at 1600x1200 4xFSAA and 16xAF and don't seem to really have any performance issues. I have all settings maxed but water at normal and visible distance at "Medium". The way I figure it, I'm in an attack helicopter in the weeds....why do I need a really long visible range. In Lock-On:FC, setting the visible range to Medium gave me quite a boost in performance, and I didn't really notice a degradation in the look in the game. The visible range is probably more important for the folks who fly fighter aircraft at altitude, rather than those who fly down low in and out of varying terrain in a helicopter. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You should be running quite well with that setup. You do have the checkbox for full screen checked? I am running with everything set at medium (except water) and 1900x1200 with a Q6600 and 8800GTX and the frame rates I have seen so far are all very good. mc_smile Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I have everything on max except water (set to medium), resolution 1280*1240 and FPS doesn't go under 30 regularely. However there's a small drop in the cities (i'm wondering what it'll be in Novorossiysk 'cause the city is huge compared to others). Changing the view distance will solve this issue i think It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice © Scooter Intel Core i7 8700K, Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5, 32Gb DDR4 CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 3200MHz, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080Ti Extreme, VKB Gunfighter MkII + TM HOTAS Warthog + TM MFD Panels, TrackIR5
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I upped my textures to high and am still getting 30-40 fps, with an occasional dip into the 20's. Still pretty fluid though, no noticeable stuttering and very flyable. Good luck! Peter22 Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 are you running Nvidia? what are you settings? Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Yes, 8800 GTS 640 Mb, on a Q6600 with 4 Gb ram. Textures on High, everything else on Medium, 1900x1200. You might turn things down to Medium and see what happens...also I don't have heat blur on, not sure how much of a hit that is to your fps? I'm running on pretty much maximum, at 1920x1200 with 2x FSAA and getting 50-80 consistantly :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] | Intel E6750 @3.2Ghz | 2GB OCZ PC2-6400 RAM | XFX 680i SLI | BFG GTX260 216SP | Western Digital 3200AAKS 320GB SATA II HDD | | Seagate 320GB 16MB SATA II HDD | Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Soundcard | Samsung 245B 24" TFT Monitor | | Logitech Z-5400 Digital THX 5.1 speakers | Logitech G15 | Logitech MX1000 | TM Cougar #27955 | TrackIR 3 Pro

GregP Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I did some tests last night to determine the effect of Visibility Distance and Water detail on framerate. All these tests used 2xAA, 8xAF and Vsync forced on via the Nvidia Control Panel. Vis High, Water High: 30 FPS Vis Med, Water Normal: 47 FPS Vis High, Water Normal: 40 FPS Vis High, Water 0 (via options.lua file): 47 FPS The only difference I noticed when changing Visibility Distance from High to Normal was that trees didn't render as far away, but the difference is minimal. Lowering water quality from High to 0 makes the water look significantly less detailed when flying over it (although oddly makes it look better, to my eyes, at long distances due to the boundary between land and water looking 'hazier' for some reason), but isn't very noticeable when over land. So for me, dropping Vis range to Medium and Water to Normal is worth grabbing an extra 50% in framerate.
