gbechtinger Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Hello! Do you guys think its worth upgrading a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 5 5600x for VR? with the R5 2600 I got 27ms of CPU frametime (from fpsvr) and 36F GPU Frametime. As I understand, my performance is being holded back by the CPU, because the cores used by DCS stay 90% all the time and the GPU never pass 50%. I want to make this upgrade to be able to reach at least 40FPS on the ground (actual 18-25 on the 2600). The frequency of the 2600 is 3.4ghz and boost at 3.9ghz, and the 5600x is 3.7ghz with boost at 4.6ghz.
Rudel_chw Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 The 5600X is about 50% faster than the 2600, in the Single Core passmark, which I find correlates well with the DCS performance: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+5+2600&id=3243 https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+5+5600X&id=3859 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
