BearF Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Hello, Firstly I am very impressed with DCS:BS. I've been waiting for a decent helicopter sim since Longbow 2! I have a question regarding the MP aspect of BS. I was watching the producers note on the ABRIS in which the map is annotated with information such as polygons to depict locations, phase lines etc. Is there anyway of sharing this information I produce on my ABRIS display with a MP wingman/wingmen? Not having dug into the ABRIS system yet please forgive my ignorance but can this info be sent via datalink? Or could I produce the annotated map on the ABRIS of my Ka-50 and share (e-mail?) the file to my MP members so they can then load this information into their ABRIS system? Thanks for your help in advance

mc_smile Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 True. The manual explains. Look through the chapter about programing targets It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice © Scooter Intel Core i7 8700K, Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5, 32Gb DDR4 CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 3200MHz, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080Ti Extreme, VKB Gunfighter MkII + TM HOTAS Warthog + TM MFD Panels, TrackIR5
deviletk Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Yes you can upload targets to everyone. And even when wingmen are AI they can upload to you. I dont know how to do it yet except very loosely in my head from watching producers notes. But it is possible and its explained in the manual. I dont have BS yet... :( Good luck ;) Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. AMD FX8350 (8 core) 4.1GHZ ::: 8GB Dominator 1600mhz ::: GTX660 2GB ::: 2xHD ::: 24" ASUS
Zorrin Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 What about Flight Plans rather than just targets? Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
Inseckt Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) I guess you could copy the file inside the .miz file wich relates to the abris info, and mail that to your friends... So if I have understood this correctly, you can enter your mission, customize your flight plan, including lines and other points of intrests and store it to your hard drive, (From inside the game)... Then you open up the .miz and find the file in wich the abris information is stored. (Don't know wich one), and finally mail this file to your friend.... This is just a suggestion as I'm not entierly sure if this is how it works... Zorrin Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Well you can use the ABRIS to create your own flight plans. Once created you can choose to save it. When it's saved it becomes one of the "Company Routes". If it's saved to your harddrive then there's no reason why you can't send it on. But is it possible to send an ABRIS flight plan via datalink? Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
BearF Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 I am not referring to datalinking targets or positions to wingmen, I am asking if anybody knows how to transfer annotated map info to other players, For instance, I draw a square on the map and call it a No Fire Zone due to friendly forces being there. For use in a MP mission how would I share this info with my (human) wingman. Having the ability to draw this kind of info on the map is great but useless if no-one else can see it. Can annoted map info be datalinked or e-mailed between players prior to getting into the sim? If e-mail is the solution does anyone know the file/files to be sent?

I did RTFM and when i save the FRP in my abris like you're saying, i go back to my missions folder i look up for the mission file i was doing, i open it unzipping it and find only 2 files: mission and option that has nothing ot do with the saved FP in the ABRIS. Any help ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
nemises Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I have not done this, so forgive me if I am not 100% sure on the procedure, and as to whether it works on multiplayer missions AND single playermissions..however: -Create the mission in the ME. -Run the mission in "Prepare" mode , which will spawn you in the KA50 as normal. -Make your annotations in the ABRIS. -Save the annotations (?unsure if this is necessary) -Exit the map -SAVE the mission Now, there should be an additional file stored in the .miz ..I "believe" this is automatically loaded by anyone playing the .miz ?..though ther might be a manual "load" process in the ABRIS ?..unsure. Anywy, hope this helps untill someone who has actually done it comes along :)

So i opened the editor, in my editor i went to the upper menu and i chose "Flight" than in the "Flight" menu i chose "Prepare Flight". I went into the cockpit i turned on the batteries, I turned on the ABRIS , I chose "Plan" function from the "Menu" category of the ABRIS, I saved the "Plan" like it says in the manual in the ABRIS, I went back to the "mEnu" category and i chose "CTRL" , In "CTRL" i chose "DTB" and i saved my Nav data and Routes into the ABRIS permenent storage and my PC Hard disk. I went out of the flight, I saved the .mission before i closed BS. I went in the "missions" folder in BS sub folders, I chose the mission file i was working at, I opened it in Winzip, Inside this time there were more than 2 files and ofcourse i saw the file ROUTES.lua that i was searching for it's been 3 days , and inside were the routes i saved ! I have a remarque for DCS developpment team : Guys ! could'nt you spend 2 sec of your .time and add 2 words in the Manual that explains that the script file would be inside of the compressed mission file and that it is FONDAMENTAL to run the mission in PREPARE MODE ????????????? I was fortunate that the forum helped me but there are millions of virtual pilots right now who are still trying to decode your manual to find out how things works. Overall the BS is a great great great product and i am very enthousiast by bying it and in my opinion it is the best war simulator on the marked in this moment (except for the fact that no airplane has been added yet) but soon it will be the number one of the whole planet ! So take it as a suggestion and have a nice day Team DCS :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
