Boomer_G-Loc Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Hi; I'm a new user, I just installed DCS and have been using it for a few days now. Let me first say that it is absolutely Awesome!.... However, I got a few bugs I can't work out. 1st = despite being able to do so on the first day, it has stopped letting me change views during replay playbacks; - it doesn't listen to any of the F-key viewpoint presses, it just continues to show the default view on start-up. - then yesterday it worked one time, but then stopped working again after that. - now I find I have to exit the game and restart it every time this happens in order to get my view change ability back again. It will work a few times and then quit again, then I have to exit and re-start DCS again. 2nd = half of the time I open the DCS, the sound doesn't work. I go through all the settings but nothing fixes it. Finally I've been reduced to exiting and re-starting the game a bunch of times until it eventually works. - I have also found that, it frequently forgets all the sound settings I have selected for it, I then have to go in and re-set them. 3rd = the playback function is baffling; I have saved several flights over the last few days, but when I select about half the titles from the list, it will only play one of them, the same one for about half of the titles saved in my list. - nothing has worked to fix this, and exiting and re-starting DCS hasn't helped with it either. 4th = I'm having a lot of trouble with the rudder controls on the P-51 during taxi, which is the only bird I'm flying yet. - I programmed them into my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and they appear to work in the air, but when I'm on the ground and need far more rudder authority than I have programmed into the Logitech joystick, the rudders get real "fritzy" and show little amplitude when using the keyboard Z and X keys for full deflection. They just kind of vibrate and move a little bit, or jump around, making it very hard to taxi on the ground. I programmed a null spot in the neutral of my joystick Z axis to try to avoid conflict with the keyboard keys, if that makes any difference. The interesting thing about this problem is that, once in a while, they will work fine, but only rarely. I have DCS version 2.7.7.15038 running on a CyberPower gamer with Intel iCore5 10400F 6 core CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB graphics card, and 500GB PCI-E NVME SSD memory, running Windows 10. Thanks in advance for any help, and I hope to get more planes and time in this game once I can work out these problems.
Hoirtel Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Welcome! A few quick thoughts, with some possible answers 1. There isn't a playback/replay function. Just a track based rerun where it will run the game again with your inputs recorded. This isn't always accurate and often leads to things not playing back correctly. In the tracks, if the radio menu is open in the top right, the F view keys will not work for changing view. They will also not do the radio as its a track replay. The opening and closing of the radio menu will be done as part of the recorded track so not changeable. It isn't a perfect system at all. 2. Difficult to know what happening. Could be your windows sound settings, if you make changes to controls or volumes makes sure you use the ok button to accept. Anything ese will not save (I do that with keybinds all the time) 3. See above, its a track rerun. Not replay 4. Unsure exactly what your problem is but as you are new I would think this might be down to the tail wheel steering of this aircraft needs a little learning. They may not respond how you think. A rudder doesn't have any authority over direction at low speeds on the ground, and tail wheel needs to be used with independent wheel braking and in the p51 the position of the stick also relates to the permitted movement of the tailwheel - have a look at a tutorial Hope this helps. DCS can take a little getting used to at first.
Sacarino111 Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Hi, and welcome to DCS! The first issues I can`t help,as I never (almost) use the replay think. The rudder problem on the P-51 is another story; 1 In the Mustang, the rudder does not control the tail wheel unless you pull back on the stick, and the movement will be really small (12º max, IIRC). You need to use differential braking and steer moving side to side with it ( yess, a pain in the A****). For taxing if you have a long straight pad ahead of you, pull back on the stick and use rudder to fine tune the taxing. When geting to the corner, push forward and use differential braking. Once lined up with runway, again pull back on the stick, apply power gently and use rudder to stay in the runway( little dificult). let the plane gain speed slooooowlyyyyy and don't hurry to get airborne. let the plane fly alone. Hope it helps, and it is not too late. Saca111
