Howdy 👋 Looking to take advantage of the current sale to pick up another map, primarily for the forthcoming AH-64D module. I also own the Ka-50 from way back (originally, the disc version) the A-10C Warthog, and the Huey.

I may also pick up a proper jet as I just have the the cheap-o FC3 F-15, but have been keen to do some learning on a jet recently.

So, the question is, which map would you recommend? I'm waffling right now between Syria, or the Persian Gulf, the latter currently being about half the price of the former.

As mentioned, I'm mostly interested in a map that I can put a lot of time into the AH-64D with. Thanks.

I'd recommend Syria if you have 32GB RAM and are running DCS off a SSD or NVMe m.2

As I see it Normandy is for WWII, Nevada is for training and qualification campaigns,  Syria is for fighting. Persian gulf I do not own.

Specifically for the Apachie I cant think of much better map then Syria

I really appreciate the new (to me) ability to trial things for two weeks. I did that with the Syria map today and will definitely be buying it. Wasn't sure how it might perform, but it does quite nice on my machine.

Have everything pretty much maxed (AA off) running at 3440x1440 and getting a nice smooth (Vsync locked) 60fps. Was getting some pretty heavy stutter over treed areas, but turning terrain object shadows from "Auto" to "Flat" knocked that right out. Super happy with that, plenty of room to play with settings from there.

Marianas on the other hand, is about 30fps with the same settings 😅

Will definitely be picking up Syria as a purchase.

My current settings if anyone cares:
