Will Eagle Dynamics, DCS, consider implementing PhysX explosions with the new engine?

Will they consider EAX from Sound Blaster?

We are getting old…, any timeline set or expected?

Plz don’t say 10 years from now or when it`s ready….Any projections?

Does ED really want to make this future project. Implementing what is considered to be standard by gaming standards? A game that exceeds our present expectations? Then the time is now, not tomorrow, making it DX10, put in the extra umph with PhysX. Let the gamer immerse themselves with full surround sound capabilities…

Making a software is not easy, especially with the details that ED is creating, I admit, but, BUT if you want to make this application to survive with the western standards of eye candy and immersion, then IMO, think of now, not tomorrow…Use the potential you have now, let tomorrow think of itself….

You upgraded to DX9.1 so far. IMO a bit old. Again think of tomorrow…Anyhow this is only my opinion…

I admit your work; even by your present standards is outstanding. I will survive as all. I believe in your company & willing to invest in any product you show up my ally. But what is the vision of DCS by the way? All companies have visions, what is yours?

A humble & faithful customer inquiring… Please don’t flame me out…

Best regards in the success of DCS

What current standards? Those which they had just set by releasing the game? ;)

I think it will be better if they choose to advance weather model (terrain dependent), make AFM for missiles and etc. than investing time in graphics or sound.

What standards? DCS just set the highest standards for simulators!

If you compare DCS with arcade games like i dont know call of duty or something like that think about the difference of a GAME and a SIMULATION!

Just think of the complexity of vehicles, weapons, terrain!

I always hate to see comparisons with those games.

In my opinion, just comparing DCS with Lock On the immersion did a very big step forward already!

There are LOADS of things more important that those you mentioned.

Surround sound is not a key immersion factor in flight simulators, nor is it needed for gameplay like, say, a first person shooter.

PhysX explosions are exactly the same. You don't need to see the debris of an explosion that happens 6 kilometers away. It's just dumb to waste resources on those elements.

As for the DX10... tell me how many people really play their DX10 games on DX10 engine. Only those that have a hell of a lot of horsepower. I have a good rig, better than most normal rigs of today. And I can't play Crysis in DX10 at full power. Apart from that, you don't see a clear difference between a Dx9 and Dx10 game.

So yes, you have a point, but I sincerely think it does not meet reality. DCS is fine as it is, they only need to change the engine to increase functionality, not eye candy.

Personally, I am happy for ED to focus on:

-flight model

-attention to realism/detail

-overall product quality

than graphics/surround sound.

I can see TheMoose's point that DX10 would be a nice to have (I have a killer system that could run it), but I'm just happy that there is a good developer left building flight sims. There's not many left. Like I said in another post, I am going to buy everything that ED/1C/FC lets me buy just to make sure I'm doing my part in their success. In fact, having played the Russian version for about a week now, I'm thinking about buying 5 English versions and giving them to friends who would otherwise not buy it.

Make up some T-shirts ED...I'll buy them too!

I was thinking about that yesterday! Tried out some of those online t-shirt printing websites. The problem is that they only print logos and images on white shirts. My idea was to have a black or dark blue shirt with the DCS logo on it and maybe also the eagle dynamics logo, something like that.
