MARLAN_ Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 AI leave formation lights on at all times, even if the flight lead turns them off. In addition, formation lights are used at night time, or in low visibility conditions (flying through a cloud layer for example) so any time AI are used for videos/screenshots it takes away some of the authenticity. Flappie Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) Hi @MARLAN_. Thanks for the heads up. I've just checked a lot of aircraft and here's what I've seen in current open beta: Non-playable aircraft (except F-5 and F-15E): formation lights OFF at all times. Playable aircraft equiped with formation lights + F-5 + F-15E: AI leader always has formation lights ON, AI wingmen always have formation lights OFF When a human player is leading, AI wingmen alwas have formation lights OFF. It appears we obtain different results. Can you please attach a track showing AI wingmen leaving their formation lights ON? I then checked how it worked for Nav lights: when a human player is leading, AI wingmen will set their Nav lights accordingly to their leader (On, Off or in between). AI M-2000C and AV-8B wingmen, however, never use their Nav lights (reported). Edited December 26, 2021 by Flappie ---

Sorry, I could have swore the last time I checked it behaved how I mentioned, maybe it was a stealth change in the update, or I missed it in the notes from a previous patch. I usually make sure before posting a report except this one time since I was fairly sure, that shows me for not checking! Either way, glad to see the AI keep their formation lights off now! Thanks for checking. Flappie Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 You're welcome. You agree we still need to report the fact they don't turn their formation lights ON when their leader does? ---

Now they always leave their formation lights off no matter what. Flappie Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Fixed in today's OB for most aircraft. F-16C has some discrepancies remaining (Wing/Tail lights and Fuselage light). M-2000C, JF-17 and AV-8B don't have synchronized formation lights yet. If an aircraft is missing in this list, please tell us. ---

Flappie Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 To my knowledge, anti coll lights are not synced at all, for any aircraft. I'll check #3 and #4. I guess if it's happening to the F-16, it's happening for all aircraft. 1 ---
Flappie Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 @84-Simba I don't see any difference between #2, #3, and #4 for the F-16C. ---
84-Simba Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Weird. How did you make your fence in ? I usually just turn the main rotary button to off, with the individual switches still in position. Pretty much like a Master Light Switch on the Hornet. It does turn all my lights off, #2 does the same, #3 and #4 keep their lights on. Maybe the sync is based on the individual switches positions and not the master rotary.
84-Simba Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Did some testing and you were right. In the F-16, wingmen will copy leader formation lights but only the green/red lights in their steady state. The anticoll isnt sync as you said, and the vertical stabilizer light neither. That's minor I believe, especially if there is a work in progress on that. Maybe I was fooled by the anticoll lights and sun reflections on my last sortie.
