Bader242 Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 New to VR with the OQ2. Flying low level I am getting 36 FPS but when I view the F10 map and then return to the cockpit I am down at 27 FPS. Is this a common issue? Is there a solution?
Lange_666 Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 (edited) I guess it's because terrain textures are re-loaded each time you return from the F-10 map, at least on the PG map, Caucasus doesn't has that problem. Hempstead Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Well, at least OP was able to return to cockpit view. I got another problem with F10 with my Oculus Q2. Since the recent update of Open Beta, F10 seems lagging and even not responding to mouse and touch controller input. It seems to be so laggy in F10 that even zooming the map doesn’t work. But, if it did respond, it took like a second or two to zoom in or out, making it completely unusable. I mean, imagine human induced oscillation remote controlling a buggy on the moon from earth. And it got so bad that F1 did not work in map, but F2, F3, etc. did work. And since I couldn’t get back to cockpit view, I was forced to kill dcs.exe eventually. I have not tried if this happens in 2D yet.

Thanks for responding. It's on the Caucasus map where I am encountering the problem. I have an 17 10700, RTX3030 8GB and 16GB RAM and struggle to get over 36 FPS at 1,000ft in Caucasus. Okay, some may say 36FPS isn't too bad and I agree, but it's so unstable. If I so much as sneeze or go on the F10 map, the FPS fall through the floor. I've spent most of Xmas watching You Tube optimisation videos - all of which contradict each other (I accept the ageing of content is the main factor here). I have tried settings in OTT, ODT and NVidia CP, all to little or no effect. To be honest, I'm finding just letting the Oculus software do it's thing is giving me the best results with the graphics slider far right and 72hz. At 80hz and above I get stuttering. Graphics settings in DCS are at the 'typical' VR settings - nothing over abitious. Just can't understand why it runs so poorly on what is a not too shabby PC. I'm resisting a clean install because of the hassle factor. Frustrated to say the least.

Lange_666 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 (edited) I'm running a Rift-S so not much choice in refreshrate (80Hz). Currently i'm always running ASW default mode 45Hz through the OTT which turns it down to 40Hz in my case. I don't use ODT. Nothing special in nVidia because it has no effect in VR. Don't set your settings to high, i'm running high to medium for 2D offline, medium for 2D online and medium to low for VR. Set everything so that you can keep your FPS in VR above 36 and then set default ASW mode in OTT to 45 (will settle to 36 if you run the Q2 on 72Hz) . Don't use adaptive mode because it will switch to 72FPS when it can reach that high and back to 36 when it can not. This causes stutter. Tip: don't use both OTT and ODT at the same time, use one or the other.
