Hi, i recently bought a HP reverb G2 to replace my Rift S. If i now fly for some time and switch views to other planes(F2) i get an error - Steam VR crashes and so does DCS. This also happens sometimes without changing views with F2 but flying in my plane.  The last crash(logs attached) was on MP server, switching through planes with F2 and DCS/StemVR crashed as soon as an player F-14 came into view, maybe just a coincidence but i was flying the F-14 myself as i tested the new G2 and had the "same" crashes - SteamVR and DCS. I had this also flying the Hind.

No mods installed, using latest open beta.

I did test SteamVR/WMR beta and non beta versions, checked local files. I will now do a DCS repair(slow). I had this never before with my Rift S, no need for SteamVR/WMR.

Some more logs AFTER i did an slow repair. This time i was flying an F-14 and switched with F2 from my plane to an player F-18(MP) and the same problem like before, DCS crashes and SteamVR crashes.

This time we have:

  • VCRUNTIME140.dll
  • GraphicsVista.dll

This seems to be VR(HP reverb G2?) related because i didn't had this problem before with my Rift S or in 2D mode.

@unknown have a look at this link. perhaps a c++ issue?

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/startup/

logs also shows you are failing IC on the MP server.

disable MODs. or rename "Saved Games" folder and run a file integrity check (Steam) or repair in stand alone. (repair is in Windows start menu in the DCS profram group.

does it still work on your other headset?

Hi silverdevil,

this is a new Win 10 and DCS install, with a new generated saved games folder. There are NO MODS installed and i did a slow DCS repair between post 1 and 2. If i enter the MP lobby i get the IC check passed symbol and i can connect and play on the server for 15 to 45 minutes before this problem occures.

This problem started with the new Reverb G2 / WMR /SteamVR HW/SW combination. That's why i also tried the WMR/SteamVR beta versions without success because everytime this problem happens SteamVR is also crashing "fatal error...". I don't know if SteamVR crashes and kills DCS with it or vice versa. DCS still runs flawlessly in 2D, i haven't tried my old Rift S which worked perfectly fine on this PC before.

Thanks for the link, the VC... dll files are not missing on my PC but i will try to reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributable Package.

Try increasing the swap file. Large screen resolution + maximum graphics settings + VR + multiplayer. There may not be enough RAM for everything. If increasing the swap file will help, you can buy a couple of extra RAM modules.

Reinstalled the VC... package, increased my pagefile from 16GB to 32GB(looks like windows didn't (looks like windows didn't accept the change, did this again and now it has changed the swap file from 16GB to 32GB - will try again later if that helped), i have 32GB of RAM. I flew on the same servers with the same settings without any problems before with my Rift S but with the Reverb G2 i get this strange crash on MP only it seems!

If i fly in SP there is no problem, i flew my test mission for over 1 hour, switched views with F2 and roles(planes/helicopters) many times to see if i can get it to crash but in SP everything is fine - very strange.

Latest log file attached was on a MP server, i was the only active player, flew the F-14, changed view very often and had no problems until i switched roles to the Hind and -> SteamVR crashed with DCS. RAM usage at that point ~26GB

For now it looks like the page file was set to low with 16GB. I increased it to 32GB and could fly a MP session (F-14 and Mi-24), changing views with F2 many times and it worked, hopefully t stays like that.
