Madman777 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Hi guys - nice to meet you all - long time reader - first time post (i think) Question - I'm starting to get my hardware for DCS BS and I wanted to save a few bucks on a Saitek X52. I'm going to try to get it on ebay - should I be weary of buying a used Joystick - do they wear out? I'm also getting TrackIR from ebay - I guess I shouldn't worry about that wearing out eh? Thanks! i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
nemises Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 X52's do wear out , and there is a reasonable failure rate (unsure of numbers)..I've heard people complain of having to get 2 or 3, allthough I've presnally had no problems with mine for the 2 years ive had it. Other people, who mod sticks / upgrade sensors etc.. will know a lot more about this than I though. Trackir you are probably fairly safe with second hand, though if you get the track clip pro thingy, be careful, as the build quality of it is not so good, and they are very flimsy (though easily repaired also)

I think i'll try it out used - already spend $1200 on a computer just for BS - gonna take a risk with the used Joystick. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
tusler Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 GO TO FRYS I was at FRYS in City of Industry [LA] yesterday and they have X52 sticks in the box on the shelf for $47 :smilewink: Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! Mad Dog 7.62 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I had to take the brand new X52 I bought apart and fix it.....bad connection inside. They are not very well made so I think a used one would be a shot in the dark. Vekkinho Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Why don't you go for X52 Pro instead?! It's an upgraded version of X52 less prone to damage caused by use (AFAIK). Better looking too (IMHO)! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
