Open Beta, Quest 2, Syria map, DCS Liberation, F-16, but candidly my frame rates aren’t great in any scenario.

Can anyone share their settings? I get around mid-30’s FPS inconsistently. Not sure if that is par for the course, or if anyone has advice for tuning the Quest 2. Any advice appreciated.

System specs:

RTX 3080

64 GB DDR4

M2 NVME SSD

Win 10

There are plenty of posts about settings if you look/search.

But it would help if you posted a screenshot of your settings in game. That way it would be easy to see if there is an obvious reason for you FPS.

well depending on your settings for the Q2 and DCS you should be getting better than that I would imagine. Are you using the cable or wireless?

what is your Super sampling settings? there are tons of settings in the quest I would advise you do as TZeer said and do a search you might find some good info on tuning your Q2..

My settings are attached. I've done a ton of reading other topics, but the biggest challenge I've seen is that there really is no benchmark... there's everything from people claiming to get steady 90 fps with a Quest 2 with a 2070, to people saying 36 fps is pretty good, but none of the reports are run on a consistent mission for benchmarking, so it all seems to be pretty meaningless as I too get decent fps when flying a free flight mission in Nevada with no other units, but bog down to 20 fps with a Liberation mission in Syria with 350 units.

My quest is set to 72 hz, 1.5 PD, with DCS set to 1.0 PD. You'll see that everything is basically set to low with the exception of Textures. Regarding OTT or ODT, the advice seems to be totally scattershot with some saying to use it and others saying they make no difference.

Open to any and all ideas.

Thanks!

First you can do is set your PD on the headset down to 1.

Also make sure you have increased your default resolution in the headset itself to max, in the oculus app.

Then you can download the track from this thread:

Even though it's a thread for the G2 headset, multiple people has used this track to test, myself included. So do a test and let us know your findings. Good luck.

virtually the only things that has any impact in the NVCP is VR pre-rendered frames and cache size (I come and go on performance mode), in VR (if you havent already set it via an individual program setting)  . I would drop the pre rendered frames to 2, because you ae going get some horrid latency.

As @TZeer suggests drop your PD to 1, and terrain object shadows to flat, once thats done you should have the headroom to lift up some of the other graphics settings, whilst my guide is aimed at SteamVR users there is a lot in there that is generic.

Man, I don't even know what to say... I didn't even know there was a way to increase the default resolution on the Quest 2 headset itself. I've had it for about 6 months, fought with it to try to fix the blurry graphics until I've been ready to lose my mind, and though upping the PD in the oculus program was the only fix. I just maxed the resolution with SideQuest, dropped the PD to 1, maintained my graphics, and wildly improved my framerate! You ROCK!

Seriously, I appreciate the help. This is a game changer.

As a frustrated side note, why on Earth would they ship the Quest 2 set to a lower than max resolution?

I don't know, but a as a VR beginner ( Quest 2 ) myself, I feel there is a jungle of settings and options that needs to be set correct to make it work at it's optimal.

I use ODT and OTT to tweak my settings myself. And of course the oculus app for the most basic, as  refreshrate and resolution.

Also make sure you have disabled the oculus home ( 3D home ) when you put your headset on. You don't want your oculus home to run in the background when playing games. It uses resources.

If you have fluctuating FPS, it can cause stutters. And I see there are different ways of dealing with it. I only have an RTX 2080 card, but I force ASW on with 30 FPS and 90 Hz refreshrate.
You can also go 90 Hz and 45 FPS with ASW on. Or 72 Hz and 36 FPS.

Also download this:

I have yet to try it, as I am at work now.
