DmitriKozlowsky Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Full SC ball and LSO features for AVB-8B/NA. Right now a recovering HarrierII on SC CVN has no "Ball", "Clara", SC ATC "See you at 10", or any LSO interaction. Except that LSO always grades Harrier recovery as "No grade, insufficient communication". Meaning that DCS LSO received no 'ball' from Harrier pilot. Similar here is no helicopter ATC procedure for recovery. Except standard "Permission to land".
veenee Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 It was said some time ago (around the time SC came out, so.....2 years ago?) that there was no plan to make it compatible with Harrier. So many modules, so little time... www.mikphotography.com
Nealius Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Harriers never officially operated off CVs or CVNs. They are LHA, LHD, or shore only. Helicopters are not guided or graded by LSOs. From what I can tell per the P-429 is that they only contact with CATCC for Marshal, then "in sight," then switch PRI within 5nm. The actual landing phase is guided by a yellow-shirt who commands a pedal turn and vertical landing. 1
