Hello everyone

I am flying formation with the FreeBirds Aerobatic Formation Team which started up just over a month ago. I have noticed that the F15C has a bounce effecting the nose of the aircraft and the pilots head.

I found this thread on the UBI site.

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=17610606&m=61710916&r=71710916#71710916

I was wondering if this effect could be made an option. Just like the Ctrl F1 will give you dynamic head movement. We don't wish to take anything away from those who like the effect but formation flying becomes difficult with it.

If possible, could this effect be made an option?

Thanks in advance.

I was told to post my question over here but i'm not sure if i'm getting to the people who could answer my question.

Can anyone point me to the right group or person?

Thanks

Other than the UBI.forums, this IS the right place to post it. the only other place where the dev's look are all in russian, so that wouldnt be help to you.

So you probably arent getting many replies/feedback because of the fact, like i said before, This is a feature implemented for the better. It is more realistic, more immersive, and more helpful for you getting a good situational awareness. So people really wouldnt bother thinking about taking away this feature, or even making it optional, as the majority absolutely love it.

Again, just get used to it man..take it in stride! But anywaze, I dont really understand why you would be getting THAT much as for you to come on and really strive for it to be changed. I mean if your flying formation flying, How are you pulling so tightly, flying with so much AOA, or being so close to stalling? so again, and i bet your hoping this is the last, but get used to it :D

Thanks again KuostA for your thoughts. There is NO big pull, NO high AOA, NO close to stalling. We fly the same proflies as the Thunderbirds, in fact i have flown with them and still see the effect in my plane as well as theirs. Please, can any DEV's post their thoughts?

I respect KuostA post but I have a different view. His post makes me wonder why was this effect was not put into the roll axis to? You know, bank left, head goes right? Kinda like Ctrl F1 (natural head movement) which will actually turn your head in the direction of the turn. By the way, how many pilots fly with natural head movement? Does anyone use it while flying formation? Why?

Not just head bounce in the jet.

1) Check the pitch bounce effect in outside view. Look at the side profile of the aircraft and pull 2G and release the stick. The nose of the aircraft bounces to? You would think it would rise up and plane, but it actually bounces.

2) While your there, check the roll axis in outside view. Look at the front profile and watch the wings as you bank, now imagine if this bounce effect was added to the roll axis! Please note how the wings react to your roll axis impute, smooth and precise to the amount you impute. This is how the pitch axis should be, smooth and precise, especially for formation flying.

I believe many pilots are simply use to this added realism effect and unknowingly fight the pitch impute to stay in formation. I would love to see the Thunderbirds produce their next movie without the pitch bounce, they would notice a huge difference having smooth, precise control on both axis.

Remember, we don’t want to take anything away, just hope it could be made an option.

Thanks for listening.

The following was posted by Shepski on the UBI bugs forum. A link to the thread is in my first post.

RE: F-15C aircraft bounce

What you might be seeing is the pilot inertia that was added in late beta.

As you pull back increasing G's the pilot's view drops down and as you release the G load the view will move back up simulating the pilot movement in the cockpit under G loads. This is something the community was crying for during development BTW.

I asked for this to made an option for the patch so we'll have to wait and see.

Shepski, any news on making this an option?

Thanks in advance

just had a look for that Shepski and found it in the cockpit.lua not the view.lua

Thanks Cobra.. my bad... In v1.1 it's in the "view.lua"

Cheers

The "cockpit.lua" file isn't present in v1.1 FYI.

I have been away from a home lot over the past few months but it looks much better for the next few months... I should be around a lot more.

Hi Redeye,

It's been an option for a long time now, since the first patch I believe...

Config/View/view.lua

"CockpitNyMove = false"

Thank you very much Shepski. I just tryed it....thank you very much for this information. This is going to make formation flying much more fun for a lot of pilots i fly with. Can't wait to share this information with them.

Thanks to KoustA for answering my post and hope he understands my different views. I like the effect also but not for formation flying. We all learn't something which is what we do together.

Thanks again to everyone.

Config/View and look for cockpit.lua , open with notepad and find

CockpitNyMove = true

Change true to false and then save.
