James744 Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 To be more economical with buttons (I avoid using the mouse where possible) It would be great to have a simplified command which can activate ECM Pod buttons 1-6 with just a single input. I'd hope this would be easy to implement. 1
Diima Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 You can use macros for your hotas if your hotas have a software
James744 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Thanks Diima, I'm using button boxes for this, so will have to look into that. I was just hoping it would be something fairly quick and easy for ED to see if they could implement. 5 or 6 buttons is a lot to give up on any hardware without running external macros.
LeCuvier Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 In addition to what @Diimasaid: 1. VoiceAttack can produce series of button presses from a single voice command. I have tried VA a bit and it's fairly basic and therefore stable. 2. One can add one (without failing the IC) macro to the "Macro_sequencies.lua but that requires a bit of basic programming. Auto-start and auto-stop is done that way. I use such a macro to turn all interior lights up, for several modern fighters. 3. I can produce up to 3 button presses from a single push button binding by adding commands in "default.lua" I do not find much info about the use of the ECM panel, and I wonder: Is there really a scenario where you would push all 6 ECM buttons in? James744 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Ah ok, I'll look through the forums to find how to create a Macro then. My understanding was the buttons represent ECM transmission bands, so I was trying to counter on all bands (which I thought was normal). Cheers for your help
Deano87 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Yeah but those buttons are just something you switch on when fencing in or starting and not something that you need to be cycled while flying. That’s what CMS is for, to give jam consent etc. Unless you really don’t want to use the mouse even during startup. James744 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Yeah I use VR, HOTAS, MFD and button boxes to operate whatever I can. So if I can avoid using the mouse at all then I will. Hopefully I can figure out how to do this lua macro. Edited February 8, 2022 by James744
Diima Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I'm using Logitech g940 hotas. It has an software for keybinding. I can record key pushes and make them for only 1 click. For example I bind the keys for ECM 1-6 on any keys on your keyboard. Then I start the record from hotas software and pushing the binded keys. After the record I can just push one button on my hotas and he will push all keys in the line from 1 till 6

James744 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Thanks All, I'll have a go at making one.
Deano87 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 If you're in VR I really can't recommend the PointCTRL Finger trackers enough. The link should be in my sig. Chaos_Out Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 I use Voice Attack to act as a macro to speed things up a bit or to keep my hands on my hotas, but having to keyboard bind every single thing gets cumbersome after a while (when factoring in other aircraft). I say the command and then it executes all of the keyboard bindings in the order I set it to .i.e. "setup radar" turns on my rwr, sets my countermeasure profile to semi, and then added it to turn on my hmcs; or "wing tanks" flips my fuel monitor switch to the wing tanks so I can see when to dump them after they're empty, and "normal" flips it back. My favorite is "dump wing tanks" or "dump center tank" when in a pinch since fumbling through the s-j menu can take a bit if in a hurry. It will automatically select the s-j page, select the tanks, dump them, then return back to the hsd. Just little QoL stuff I enjoy since I don't fly too often these days. I should also add I almost exclusively fly VR now so using a keyboard is out, and has never been something I've wanted to use while flying tbh. I would love to create a one button macro like the in-game startup function to free up some keys, but the macro pdf linked is giving me a headache while trying to wrap my head around it. So basically I'll likely end up binding the ECM 1-6 buttons (or 5? don't recall) and the xmit switch to the position I want, setup a voice command "setup ECM" or something, and then add those keyboard bindings to the voice command. 5900x | 3090 | HP Reverb G2
