hi

i am still trying to see what is the easiest way to engage those pesky small gun boats that move around 24 knots ..

1) using FCR i can detect them and lock on to last known position to create a mark point

2) then using TGP find them - hard since they are so small and do not stand out much against the water

3) mavs in PRE made (boresighted prior to flight) CANNOT LOCK the target, screen mostly white for both D and H mavs

--- what am i doing wrong, why can i not see a clear video in my MAV video feed?

tgp tracking moving target but mav white cannot lock.png

I have also managed to point track a moving speed boat and tried laser guided munitions 500lm laser guided bomb, kept lasing the target but completely missing? as though the laser guided bomb went for the first place the moving point track started at, instead of following the moving target

Does the Viper have GMT yet? I can't remember, but that would probably be useful. You should be able to do a PRE handoff from the A/G radar in GMT directly to a MavD if you're boresighted.

Also, make sure you're in narrow FOV for the Maverick, it'll be easier to find the target and they track better that way.

Moving targets with a Paveway II are a bit of a challenge. CCIP will drop the bomb on where the target is at release time, and then it will fall to that point as the target moves away from it. I get best results by manually leading the ASL a bit, and then lasing early to be sure to catch the bomb while it's still in the bucket and give it enough time to pull onto the target location. Lase too early though and the bomb will loose all its energy trying to catch up and fall short. I find lasing a moving target at 15 - 20 seconds TTI works best, depending on speed.

Hi thank you for the information. I have tried GMT and set the control for hi and lo speed objects but it does not show the larger white squares, so for sea based objects it does not seem to pickup moving target but can only pinpoint their position at time of setting the spi

When you locate them visually use Maverick in BORE mode and lock them using crosshair on the HUD. Personally I'd use unguided rockets instead.

SEA radar and Mavericks are broken so I'd wait until they fix it some day.
