"Mission Load Done" when joining multiplayer servers

I noticed after the most recent content update for DCS Open Beta the "Mission Load Done" time has increased to 5 minutes on some multiplayer servers. The lowest time is about 2:30 minutes. I have the game installed on an SSD and I have messed with preload radius to see if anything changes and it does not. Also changed some graphic settings around with no solution. I have tried clearing saved games of DCS as well. My specs are I7-7700k, 3070Ti, 32GB 3000mhz ram, and DCS installed on a Samsung Evo 2TB SSD. Anyone know if this is affecting them or if it is just me?

The game takes 4 long minutes to "precache units resources in slots".

2022-02-22 01:23:49.588 INFO NET: sync seems good, telling server we are ready

According to its dictionary file, this mission has over 2000 units, which is a lot.

EDIT: and according to the mission editor, there are over 1300 units. I wonder if cleaning the mission dictionary would speed up loading...

I do not know much about mission editing/creation but I don't believe I have the ability to clear the mission dictionary you're talking about as the mission is on hoggit PGAW server. The load time was not near as long last update or the one before I dont remember. Is there any other issue you think could be causing the long load time?

I've just made a small test and the "precache units resources in slots" took 1 second:

2022-02-22 16:47:14.666 INFO Dispatcher: loadMission Done: Сontrol passed to the player

We need to know if it's somehing with your PC or something with MP:

  1. Rename the track you attached in the OP as a .miz
  2. Open DCS, run the mission editor and open this .miz
  3. Fly mission
  4. Once you reach the slot menu, exit the game.
  5. In your Saved Games/DCS.../Logs/dcs.log file, look for "precache units" line and copy-paste it along with the surroundings lines (like I did).

Took me more than a second. Like 2 minutes which is still longer than normal.

OK, then the issue is probably on your end. You can try the following solutions, step by step:

  1. Rename your "Saved Games/DCS..." folder to "DCS_backup" or something approaching. Do NOT delete this folder.
  2. Start DCS and do the very same test.
  3. Does it still take 2 minutes? If so, try a DCS repair and chose the "slow" method.

I did both of those and still have the issue. I tried joining a different MP server after but it was the same 2-5 minute wait. Heres the log and track for it.

OK. If you haven't already, you can re-use your initial "Saved Games/DCS..." folder (the one that was renamed as a backup).

Please try this:

  1. Go to "C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Temp"
  2. Delete all the "DCS..." folders you can find in it. These are temporary folders used to unzip DCS mission and track files.

Unfortunately this didn't work. Some how.

@codyj007 Please try this one: run the game as Administrator, load a mission like you've been doing, then attach the resulting log.

Of course, if you're already running the game as Administrator, try the opposite.

I was running it as Administrator in the first place so I tried not doing that and it is still taking forever.

OK. If you haven't already, please add your main DCS folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\) as an exception in your antivirus even if it's Windows default antivirus.

Already have an exception for main folder and saved games for DCS.

The only idea I got left at the moment is to enable debug log.

If you already have an autoexec.cfg file in your "Saved Games/DCS/Config" folder, just add this line in: log.set_output("dcs", "", log.ALL, log.FULL)

And if you haven't, just paste attached file in the Config folder.

autoexec.cfg 44 B · 1 download

Heres the log with debug.

@FlappieI don't think it is related to the amount of units in a mission either. This PGAW server took nearly 10 minutes to load and there was not nearly as many units as when it took 4 minutes to load. Also, do you think putting DCS on my other SSD would do anything? I don't think the other SSD is any different speed just a different brand.

Thank you. I see it still takes more than 4 minutes. But only this step... which means it might not be a storage speed issue. I've never seen this before.

If you haven't already, open a support ticket (to do so, log in to the DCS website, and click Support).
