Thanks for this great addition to DCS.  Just curious, however.  When landing with the F-18 on the Super Carrier, I would say that I can land it on first try 9 times out of 10 when no wind and clear sky.  On the Forrestal, however, this is the opposite.  I miss my landing 9 times out of 10 using the same technique as when I'm landing on the Super Carrier.  I was wondering if some of you are experiencing the same issue.

Thanks in advance,

I'm pretty sure the deck is quite a bit smaller on the Forrestal vs the Super. Plus while they look very similar they are different class ships so they aren't identical.

I would guess you're just not used to the smaller deck, keep practicing you will get it!

Yes I find also that between the Forrestal and a Super Carrier, the sight picture is very different, so it takers some getting used to.  Also the deck of the Forrestal seems darker and so it's more difficult to see details on it such as centerline.  So yes, it takes some getting used to.  But you'll get there.

The Forrestal also comparably has a very dark flight deck, at least on my monitor, which makes judging alignment a lot more challenging in my experience.

Fly the ball, fly the needles. If that is your technique, instead of looking at the flight deck, the flight deck don't matter much. LSO gives you line up calls to come left/right. Additionally set your ACL or ICLS for your VDI and observe your offset. Hud's not needed.
