Bug

Each time I try to install it gets about halfway there and fails on the UH_60 texture:

...
Extracting texturesbmp_weapons.cdds (16,704,712 bytes)...done.
Extracting T_Textures.cdds (12,937,452 bytes)...done.
Extracting UH_60_textures.cdds (28,752,048 bytes)...failed.
Extract failed with error code 13

Any ideas?

I have the same problem, i get the error code 13 and it is strange that this files are corupted and no one is doing something about it. I just spend 50 dollars and 4 hours of my day trying to figure out what is going on.

If the dam file is corrupted why they don't fix it, if i buy something i want what i pay for if you can't deliver it i will call my credit card and tell them to deny the payment.

Also i will be telling all my friends not to even bother with a product that can't even provide a good download link for there costumers.

It doesn't mean the file is corrupted on the server.... It means it's getting corrupted during the download process. This is something outside ED's influence. The problem lies either with your ISP, or your PC's connection/ configuration..... If the file on the server was corrupted, then it would effect everyone, not just a few (and this is very obviously not the case).

Like Groove said, make sure you're not using a download manager or accelerator. If you're using Firefox, try using Internet Explorer instead (or vice versa).

I downloaded it today, and it was fine, I used the first US mirror.

So, before getting all foamy at the mouth, try using a download manager or something?

How about you tell us if you use any download manager to get that files.

Same problem here.gets about halfway and BAM!! aborts install.Tried DLing 3 times from differant mirrors. Now about this being My connections fault.I've been downloading allot bigger files than this 10,15,20 gigs and up from differant sites So, it just seems funny that DCS's Site is the only one I'm getting corrupted files from. How bout giving this to other retailers like direct2drive or other sites?Oh and no I dont use DL managers.

I knew I should have put that in my post.yes of course I did and I'm trying once again to DL them. This is getting very frustrating. And before you ask yes I put both files in the same folder.I created a New folder and placed both files in there.

Finnaly got it to install.Somehow the data1.cab file got renamed "data1(2).cab"I removed the (2) from the file and then tried the install again and it worked.Watched the overview film and all I can say is WOW!Still needs a few bug fixes that I can see like Terrain and a few other glitches but overall good job!

I still have the same problem..have downloaded the files with chrome, firefox and ie. Same problem across the board, fails with error code 13 during ah-64 extraction. Have downloaded from all mirrors. Have both files as well. This is driving me nuts. Not a happy customer..

I get some weird NIS error at the end of "setup loading" dialog. Just checked the md5 checksum of the data 1 that matches the website but setup.exe after downloading 2x still does not match.

Download the util below and check the MD5 checksum before wasting you quota on the wrong file :)

something more than corrupt downloads happening here...............I just tried re-installing after a format using the same files that worked perfectly well just a few days ago on my first install....now I get error code 13

Even if the file worked before, do check them out for integrity in case some other piece of software has molested the files. Some instructions can be seen here: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Troubleshooting:installer#Verifying_integrity_of_the_distributive

Most likely something has done something funny to data1.cab and you may have to re-download it.

Some other software molested the file??......lol. Seriously though mate, its hardly likely that a file i used once then simply left stored on a second drive got touched by anything other than its own installation routine ............... im downloading fresh copies now, but its rather stupid that i have to, though no surprise, having experienced Lockon and FC, I know the score with ED stuff :music_whistling:

Do you have antivirus software installed?

Well, if yes, you have a program with extreme priviliges to have it's way with the files on your computer.

If no, you have (potentially) an uncounted number of malware that might be infecting or otherwise having fun with the files on your computer, which would cause issues like failed CRC checks or changed cheksums.

For this reason, you will never have a computer that does not stand the risk of "weird" things happening, which is why verifying it's hash would be neat to know if something has actually changed in it.

If you have identical files that are completely unchanged from before yet do not work, then I would suspect that something went wrong in the reinstall since quite clearly a working file should work, right? The alternative to it working is that something happened to it, whether it was something councsious, normal, or plain weird. ;)

Yea, I know weird stuff happens, but not without a reason

Anyway, its strange how every other install file and patch ive stored on drives over so many years have never...and I mean "Never" been altered by another piece of software whilst they've sat waiting on my backup drive

Seriously........NEVER

Posted

Of course it's not without a reason - but the reason might be one that we as a user have a very hard time figuring out. And it mustn't have happened while it sat on the backup drive (if the drive is external and hasn't been connected that's impossible, ofc) - but the moment you connect it things can happen.

I haven't had things like that happen to install media - but I have had it happen to actual installed programs, usually overzealous antivirus that decided that a part of a file it did a scan on was suspicious and removed it to "remove the threat" - and of course it didn't ask me about it. Which caused an executable to inexplicably stop working all of a sudden and it wasn't until I started digging through antivirus log files that I saw that it had actually butchered the exe.

That something is a rare event doesn't mean that it's impossible.

But anyway, we'll see if things are different when you have a new file - you could compare their hashes. If the new file works and has a different hash than your old one you will know for a fact that something on your computer has altered the old one.

Is it possible that the install process itself writes to data1.cab reendering it unusable for subsequent installs?....this would be damn silly of course, but?????

No. Data1.cab is a regular archive file, the installer just opens it and starts reading the files for installation to your hard drive. I have used the same file, moved via pendrives, on two computers - and the same file on the same computer twice.
