dresoccer4 Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Hey guys, easy question: is there a way to display the distance to the current target in the PILOT HMD? And by target I mean 2 types: 1) the target that George is targeting the TADS at for attack 2) or the target point T01, T02, etc Thanks! Sirbum Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 not in the HMD no, other then if you had a waypoint right on top of it. Easiest way though is too look at the Tads for your gunner as video because he lazez the target and so it shows you the distance that way while he is lazing.
frostycab Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 It might not be the solution you're looking for but: 1) Put TADS video feed on one of your MPDs and you will be able to see the lased range to target. (Caveat: I know this works with human CPGs, but George being George I don't know if he actually bothers lasing for range before actually firing.) 2) If you make, for example, T01 your ACQ point then you get range displayed in the IHADDS to the left of the field of regard display in X.Xkm format, so around 100m accuracy. (Just tested to confirm this works.)

Unless it's the N3.0? not sure what that is Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules

The "N" means that it is displaying range to the navigation source. It can also display laser range, but I'm not sure if that's only while the laser is firing or not. Alternatively it might give range to the last point lased, but I haven't tested for that yet. How I tested: Aircraft sat on the ground. I created 3 TG points at various ranges in front of the aircraft, and then set the ACQ by pressing ACQ (R6) on the TSD, selecting "?00" at B4 and then selecting the target point from the COORDS page that opens. Selecting each TG point in turn showed a corresponding increase in the range in the IHADDS. Edited March 24, 2022 by frostycab Additional info 1

I have TADS as my ACQ source. However the distance thing says N3.2, while the actual distance to the target is much less. As soon as you changed the acq source from TG, CM, WP, aircraft is no longer updating the ranging source or using the new acq source for ranging. N range has to deal more for weapons targeting If you're curious about how far you are away from something you can utilize the direct to function via the TSD > RTE > DIR > Point ? or by CAQing the cm,wp,tgt with the cursor and you'll get the info in the lower left above the sight selection. For laser range *xxxx you must be in the front seat to see this, The back seat can only see this via the video page. Just tested in game 1

Just tested in game so I got around this but placing a target point T01 on the bad guy, then setting T01 as my ACQ source. that way I can always see my distance from the enemies in the HMD. i was hoping to be able to always see the distance to the TADS in my HMD but that doesn't seem possible Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules

My recommendation take it for what it's worth. 1
