Bushwood Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 I'm just starting the campaign and I have a questions about winds. Are the winds in the brief constant across the island or do they vary? Also what am I supposed to be using as my wind cues. In the first mission, the smoke and wind socks use at the HQ, and FOB are blowing in one direction, But the rain seems to be falling almost 180 degrees from that. It was something I didn't notice until. set up a crosswind approach to the landing sites to stay out of the smoke.

The wind is constant all over the map, only turns slightly right with altitude - like in real life on the Northern Hemisphere. You can trust the smoke and windsocks, and also the briefings, not sure about the rain, it may be bugged. 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Bushwood Posted March 25, 2022 Author Posted March 25, 2022 Cool. I figured the rain might have been a DCS'ism. Just wanted to verify
paulw10 Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) I've been using the flare smoke direction as my guide. I always do landing approach into the smoke. Edited January 23, 2023 by paulw10
