Belphe Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 I just wanted to say that the problems I had (I wasn't able to trim nor to auto-hover) were totally Saitek R440 FF Steering Wheel Pedals related. :smartass: I unplugged and uninstalled them and everything started wroking! :pilotfly::joystick::D Thanks everyone for help! See you in the sky! Regards - Darek Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Marder Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) I just wanted to say that the problems I had (I wasn't able to trim nor to auto-hover) were totally Saitek R440 FF Steering Wheel Pedals related. :smartass: I unplugged and uninstalled them and everything started wroking! :pilotfly::joystick::D Thanks everyone for help! See you in the sky! Regards - Darek i read this thread now, i have exactly the same problem :( but i do not have a steering-wheel plugged to my computer or any other device (except the usb-mouse) don't know what to do :(:( i like this sim very much but i cannot maintain in level flight because the whole time my helo pitches up after trimming and then releasing the controller. //edit: this is my problem cannot solve it http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568722&postcount=15 i pressed ctrl-enter to show the control-square. normally when i release the trim-button the diamond supposes to stay at the trimmed position right? not for me. Belphe Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Perhaps your joystick has FF? If so switch it off on Windows level and see... If not, I don't have a clue... :/ Sorry... :( Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Marder Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 ok. solved the problem. i set a new environment variable under win-xp set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 now i removed every unused device from the devicemanager and rebooted. my trimming works fine now. im very happy -finally! BakaNi Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 *Excuse the wall of text, I can't see include any formatting :(* Argh, so that explains why the trim wasn't acting very enthusiastically, it wasn't working at all! Trim works fine when I disable FF ingame, unfortunately this disables FF, which I've grown to know and love, my copter feels lifeless without it. ok. solved the problem. i set a new environment variable under win-xp set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 How did you set this variable? I only have one forcefeed back device on my pc and that's my joystick, I'd look to check something else hasn't installed itself, on the off chance. I hope this bug can be fixed soon! Random little story, I managed to press a few too many switches and ended up with left and right engine overspeed, before I even took off, unable to kill said warning messages, I just ignored them ;) About 5 minutes in the flight, a huge bang goes off from my left rear speaker and the joystick violent lurches down and right, catching me completely by surprise and spilling my cup of tea over my trousers. After the initial 'wtf' moment, I cut to outside view to see huge chucks of something blasted out of the back of my left engine and the copter death spiralling towards the ground. So in the interests of laps everywhere, FF and trim must learn to live in harmony together.
Weta43 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 If you have not checked the invert forces checkbox in the FFB tune panel & are using a FFB stick the FFB will not work correctly (trim will "anti-trim" the aircraft) Cheers.
Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 disable Force Feedback entirely, otherwise, trim and trim reset won't work properly on missions where you start from the air (cold start is ok). To see the problem with force feedback joysticks, hit ctrl-enter after starting Instant Action mission. Hit trimmer reset and notice that the cyclic does not go to neutral (where twol lines cross). After disabling force feedback in producer.cfg file, the problem is gone and trimming and hovering is a breeze. I was beating my head against the wall until I found this out. Regards,
BakaNi Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 disable Force Feedback entirely' date=' otherwise, trim and trim reset won't work properly on missions where you start from the air (cold start is ok).[/quote'] Just tested it you're right, cold start is fine, anything else causes trim tribulations.
Weta43 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) cold start is ok As is starting from the runway - If you're having trouble with the trim when starting mid-air - rather than disabling FFB, just don't start in mid-air. Just tested it you're right, cold start is fine, anything else causes trim tribulations. As I said above. Starting from the either the apron or the runway - I at least - have no problems with the trim... Edited December 21, 2008 by Weta43 Cheers.
Frederf Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I think ED assumes that if you have a FF joystick that it's non-centering and thus this weird trim scheme no longer applies in the same way.
Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 LOL. I think it's just a simple bug ED overlooked. Hopefully, they'll fix it in the patch. I've reported in the bugs section.......
BakaNi Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) As I said above. Starting from the either the apron or the runway - I at least - have no problems with the trim... Anything that's not a cold start, has trim issues. Mission one of the campaign starts on the ground from a helipad, but as the k80 is powered up, it is untrimable. Maybe... ship me your joystick? :joystick: EDIT: It seems that the chopper completely untrimable, regardless of state, so long as ffb is enabled :(. Edited December 30, 2008 by Baka^Ni
