Installed the latest and greatest version of DCS World and trying to run the training simulator for the SU-25.  Everything loads great but when I get to the first screen to "start" (RShift+L) nothing happens.  Pretty much all keyboard functions for the game are dead.  I can ALT+TAB to switch windows and things like that but all "in game" controls are non-functioning.  I don't have a control stick or anything like this...I'm just trying to see if I can get the game fired up to see if I want to go further with it....

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I've unchecked "game mode".

I've gone in and tried to map the command in the appropriate section but nothing!

I initially had the effect on a Windows 10, Lenovo i3 with 16GB RAM and 2TB disk so I installed on a Lenovo laptop (i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB disk with plenty of space).  My laptop has 1 USB device, a wireless mouse, which I've taken out as a test.  I've also disabled the touchscreen keyboard.

Am I missing something simple?  Is it something with Lenovo?  I'd love to go further with this but I'm not having the greatest of luck so far.

You should first try to find an instant action mission that starts in the air. Then tell us if your keyboard lets you control the aircraft.

If it does not work either, exit the game, browse to "C:/Users/.../Saved Games/DCS.../Logs", locate a file named "dcs.log" file (it may simply show up as "dcs"). and attach it here.

Thank you. DCS claims it sees a keyboard and a mouse, which is a good start:

2022-03-28 19:53:50.771 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created.
2022-03-28 19:53:50.779 INFO INPUT: Device [Mouse] created.

Then it looks like you tried to unplug/plug your keyboard to try to make it work. Is that so?

If so, we can see it's well detected by the game:

If you edit the game controls, does it detect your keys appropriately? Does the "modifier" field stays empty? If not, it means you have a permanent keypress (like a stuck key).

Flappie, thanks for taking a look!  It is very much appreciated!  It is slightly frustrating to see others have success but then be sidelined out of the gate!

I did plug in a usb keyboard to see if that had any difference and it did not.

While I had it plugged in, I tried to edit the game controls and it did correctly detect they keys appropriately (i.e. "1" mapped as one with no modifier, etc).

The screen does come up and it displays the cockpit and it appears it is in active pause...other "windows" keystrokes seem to work (i.e. alt+tab) but the in game (like LShift+Lwin+pause) do not register.
