Is it normal that a 100% fuel, FCR, 2x rocket launchers and 2x4 AGM-114s require 98% torque setting just to hover at sea level on a sunny day (32 Celsius is common in July in Syria)? Yes, it's hot and yes, it's not the lightest of configurations but surely not the heaviest either. Equipping the Apache with the above and trying to perform any type of a bob-up attack is virtually impossible (even landing requires rolling down) because bringing this thing into a hover is unachievable. Again, if this is common knowledge I apologise. Being a jet fan I have loads of homework to do. I just never realised that modern day attack helicopters are so "close" to over-torquing when combat loaded in a hover on a sunny day. Thanks! Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TheCrysinator Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 If think that's a common theme with attack helicopters. For example I never take 100% fuel in the Hind. Maybe take less fuel or a lighter loadout when you plan to hover.
