Supmua Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 If you’re using Reshade 5, it’s got a separate runtime in VR mode. You have to enable it from VR overlay screen using VR controller (SteamVR in my case), find Reshade and click on it and it will display setting window (similar to fpsVR if you’ve ever used it)—mouse/keyboard input is only for nonVR (2D) mode. DeltaMike Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 ^Although the settings do translate. Doing "A/B" tests in VR is a little cumbersome. So if you want, you can get things grossly tuned in flat-screen mode, then pop into VR to fine tune it. In VR: Start up the game. It'll work better if you're in a mission, hit "pause" Press the Menu button (three bars) on your RIGHT controller. This brings up the Steam VR console. Look for the ReShade icon on your toolbar, press that. Up pops the familiar ReShade menu. To enable an effect, click the check box next to the effect and then check "performance mode." To tweak the effect, uncheck "performance mode." To re-activate, check "performance mode" again. To turn off an effect, un-check it. WipeUout Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Reshade substitutes a DLL (dxgi.dll) in the DCS\bin folder and adds a "Reshade" folder with some other files and folders inside. It will only work with the ST version, not the MT even if you copy the files in the DCS\bin-mt folder. You mean the shader effects aren’t showing in VR? When you installed ReShade did you select the OpenXR option for the render API as well, not just the DirectX libs? Also if you don’t use the add-on (install the version with add-ons) so you can sync with your runtime then the ReShade.ini file that gets created in your bin-mt will need to be copied to ReShadeVR.ini so you have two files with the same config, one gets used for 2D and one for VR. See here for what I mean about installing with add-ons, note that you’ll need to configure this by looking under your goggles if that’s the case as the ReShade menu will show on your monitor but not in VR. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

If I am understanding you correctly I just open my Reshade.ini, "Save as" ReShadeVR.ini in the same (C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt) folder, done? I did it for DCS (yet to test) but it also didn't work in IL-2 and I just noticed it already has a ReshadeVR.ini...but it is 2K in size vs Reshade.ini being 3K.. That (creating ReshadeVR.ini) didn't work. Then tried removing all traces of Reshade (folder and files), downloaded the Reshade with Add-ons, installed that (with no Add-ons) selecting both DX11 and OpenXR, now I see nothing in 2D or VR... No sign of it loading at all. When you installed ReShade did you choose OpenXR when selecting the rendering api? If you run this tool does it show a reshade OpenXR layer and it’s ticked? https://github.com/fredemmott/OpenXR-API-Layers-GUI Is the ReShade menu shown on your monitor when you press the Home key even when in VR? Does the reshade log (think it gets created in the same dir as bin-mt?) show it starting up etc. when you start the game in VR? AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Yes, the Reshade64_XR.json API is loaded, and the log file is populated. I can see the Home menu in VR Now 2D screen (I added the VR Toolkit), but only see changes on the 2D (VR) screen, not in VR itself, this is normal? Do I turn effect On, then restart DCS to get them? Also, no ReshadeVR.ini was created.. if I create it I should see the "Home" menu IN VR? I don't.. Also notice that is doesn't load in 2D now... You should follow the instructions I linked above to the other forum thread that shows installing ReShade with Add-ons support (the "Download ReShade 6.3.1 with full add-on support" button on their website) and using the Add-ons tab in the ReShade menu for synchronising changes with your runtime. This means when you hit the reload button in the ReShade menu it will update both files and you'll see the changes in VR immediately. Alternatively, it'll be as you describe, changes you make will update the ResShade.ini file but won't update the ReShadeVR.ini file (should be able to easily confirm but enabling an effect and changing something and see if the file is updated). Because of this you'll need to make the changes, then exit the game, copy ReShade.ini to ReShadeVR.ini and then start the game again. And no, the Home menu won't be shown, it will always be shown on your monitor, but you can still use it to configure everything. This is because ReShade does not have an OpenXR overlay to display this within VR. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Not sure what is supposed to be happening with the created ReshadeVR.ini, the correct sync checkboxes are loaded, restarted DCS, it never changes.. The effects Reload and On/Off work (on the 2D VR screen) so I have to assume it's functioning.. When you’re in VR and press the Home button and then make changes on your monitor and click reload, do you see those same changes take effect in VR? For example the Vibrance effect, or some other obvious effect. Or nothing is changing in VR at all? And just to confirm, you’re definitely running the multithreaded version of DCS aye? I believe all is good, just was thrown off by the fact that you can't use a hotkey while flying to see the difference as you can (IIRC) in 2D.. And here's a funny thing, I reinstalled in IL-2 and it created a ReshadeVR.ini file, I think I may need to re-check restrictions on that DCS folder (which is under "Program Files).. EDIT: I added permissions to the All folders under Eagle Dynamics, did a "Save As" to the Reshade.ini (to ReshadeVR.ini) and was able to save it directly to the bin-mt folder (previously was blocked from saving it there). Started DCS, checked hotkeys, exited, and lo and behold my ReshadeVR.ini file updated!. So it was a permissions issue blocking Reshade from creating that file for some reason.. Glad you got it sorted. One followup thing I would say, if you haven't already, is in the ReShade menu got to the Settings tab (third one along) and you should see the menu button (Home). Just under that is the toggle effects button. By default this wasn't set so you should configured this to something, I used the "End" key. This means you can easily toggle on/off to see the impact. This was important for me as I found that when I started the game each time I had to hit this button, as by default it wasn't toggling the effects on in the game. Might not be your experience, but just in case. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

sleighzy Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 @GPatricks (and others): With the latest patch now running DCS from the bin directory by default you'll need to copy your ReShade config files and `reshade-shaders` folder from the bin-mt directory to bin. I also manually updated my `C:\ProgramData\ReShade\ReShadeApps.ini` file to include the path to the bin\DCS.exe file (vs running the ReShade installer and choosing it). You can confirm it works by checking the `ReShade.log` file in the DCS bin directory when you start DCS. AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
