Are random mechanical problems simulated in BS?

Last night I was flying along and then I hear something snap with a bang. I go to external view to look around and dont notice anything, but I start losing power and control over the aircraft. I bit the dust and I have no idea why - I dont think there was any enemy activity in the area I was flying either. At the moment I am contributing this crash/mechanical mishap to some kind of user error

No random damage will be if you don't set it in editor menu.

You can get damage only if you misuse the systems or have impact or contact damages.

Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів

There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles.

I've had three crashes so far when I enter a hover. it's like the blades stall, the heli starts to shake, and I start dropping like a rock, even at full power. The only way to get out if it is to push the nose forward and pick up some significant forward speed... the shaking stops and I resume to normal flight. Not to sure exactly why it's happening.

Cquail that is called a "vortex ring" and essentialy whats happening is when you go into a hover and you have enough decent that your blades push all the air out from under you and you get sucked into that low pressure area and keep falling within that vortex..... you can get out of it by pitching forward violently and getting forward speed to get fresh air over the rotors to get lift again ;) :D and to keep from going into a vortex ring just keep your vertical speed above 5 when you go into a hover.... the vertical speed indicator is the first gauge down and left from the hud

Thanks for the response graywo1fg, I suspected it was something like that although I didn't know the name for it. At least I managed to get myself out of it 1/2 the time. I'm still too used to fixed wing aircraft. I've heard a saying that helicopters don't really fly, they're just so ugly the Earth repels them! :) I am kidding of course, hehe
