Problem developed with UI

I have a problem with the UI - when I click Mission or Track I get the loading screen, but nothing more happens. When I click Editor, the editor opens fine, but when I click File>Load, all the icons grey out and nothing more happens.

 

Any ideas please? I'd hate to have to go through the deactivate/reinstall/reactivate routine, potentially wasting a deactivation!

Long enough to make a cup of tea and have a cigarette... ten minutes? It was fine until today - click a button mentioned above and we are looking at a second or two at the very most.

I assume you use Vista?

 

Please check if there are any *.crash files in your installations temp folder.

I'm an XP SP3 user - Vista will never darken my PC again. There were no *.crash in the temp folder.

I have several MCP qualifications and had already done the non-Unicode language bit, so no joy there either. I am lucky I have a couple Russian girls living right next door to me. Thankfully their English is infinitely better than my Russian! :), and they helped me translate alot of the interface, etc. I knew I would need to set Russian as the non-Unicode language for all the characters to display correctly.

 

Doing more "troubleshooting", it does indeed seem to be a failure in the file selector to operate correctly, but why...?!

 

In the end I gave up - uninstall/reinstall and everything was working fine again. I guess we'll never really know what the problem was, but I was due to fly online with a squad mate last night and didn't want to miss out, so...
