Please tell me, when you turn off the computer, does the helmet also need to be turned off? I have a backlight visible in my lenses after switching off. It's not good, is it?

Yes correct you do not want that. You need to unplug the headset from power source. I personally use smart plugs, and have my three Lighthouse 2.0 trackers and headset plugged into the smart plugs so I can easily turn on and off with my cell phone.

IMHO crazy that Varjo did not include a power button on their Link Box.

I understand you, thank you, we will disconnect. And please tell me, is it necessary to include the usb port from the adapter to the usb port of the pc 3.1 or is it possible to use the usb port 2.0? This connection does not transmit data, it is needed for an additional. power supply, or am I wrong?

The user manual suggests USB 3.0/3.1, so I would go with that.

Pretty sure you will want to go with the recommended USB3 Plug as Supmua suggested. Historically VR and USB2 have not played nice together.

I listened to your advice and included a usb port in 3.2. Previously, in my Reverb G2 in OpenXR, the FPS in Il-2 was above 45 at maximum settings, now in Varjo, SteamVR is steering. Now the FPS in it is higher than 35, and in OpenXR only 12. In DCS, SteamVR also gives the best FPS, the only unpleasant moment appeared, the cursor began to double? Is this a bug that cannot be fixed yet, or can something be disabled in the settings to avoid this?

You have to force it to run Steam VR mode, just read my guide in the very first post because if you don't then it will be using quad render instead of stereo render which costs a lot of performance.  With your setup you should be pulling much higher fps, probably higher than mine.  Turn off V-sync in Varjo Base to avoid fps throttling.

Check this thread on how I got up to 90 fps in some scenarios.

And are there similar guides for setting up Varjo in IL-2 Great Battles and in MFS 2020?

Can’t help you with IL2.  MSFS is mostly plug and play and Varjo discord is probably the best place to hang out for this.  In general, high preset is good enough, TAA for sharpest image or DLSS quality if you want 15-20 extra fps.  OpenXR Toolkit is highly recommended for foveated rendering options, resolution override (I use 3368x2880), and postprocessing to correct over exposure in VR, etc.

Also there is an IL-2 section in Varjo Discord and also an IL-2 channel in Discord as well.

Today's DCS hotfix seems to have reintroduced the lateral stutter that the last Varjo Base updated fixed.  😞

Seems fine to me, and I've been flying a lot testing the new FSSB R3L MKII.

Hello everyone. In the course of using the vr helmet, a question arose. In the review of varjo base 3.5, it was said about adding an experimental function to the software to correct distortions at the edges of lenses, in version 3.7, I could not find this function. The review also talked about the eye tracking function in MFS, I also did not understand how to enable it or it is used by default, who knows, please explain.

There is only one distortion correction profile with version 3.7, so you can no longer pick and choose.

In order to use foveation, you need to install OpenXR Toolkit.  Enable foveation and select fixed or eye tracking.

Does OXRT foveating with eye tracking already working with DCS?

Got my Aero a few days ago. Not tested yet. Happy to exchange further 😁

No, ET foveation is MSFS only for now.  With the latest update foveation option generates small but intermittent GPU frametime spikes with DCS on my setup so I stop using it, this doesn’t happen with MSFS.

Hi @Supmua

Thanks for sharing your settings in the initial post very very helpful. I still struggle with this:

Am 2.5.2022 um 02:38 schrieb Supmua:

Aero:  Highest, brightness 65, Analytics Window/Performance/fps 45 lock.

To confirm: This is not "VB/Vsync" and the "VB/Analytics 45fps" limit must be manually set each time I start DCS?

It looks like after a restart of DCS, VB/VSync is now on and 45fps setting is no longer active (from frametime graph).

The Analytics window needs to be left open on windows desktop or minimized, I’m not sure why they decide to bury this feature in a hard to find location instead of making it a toggle switch like Vsync.  Vsync mode will shift frames between 30/45/90, so it’s not ideal if you have significant framerate fluctuations because stuttering also occurs when framerate is not constant (when we have HMDs that can support variable refresh rate in the future, this type of stuttering will be eliminated).  I think framerate limit option on OXRTK can also get the job done and that setting will stick.

Also note that VB frame lock doesn’t play nice with MSFS (at least on my setup), it will instead half the framerate that you are supposed to be getting.  And perhaps this is why it gets hidden because it doesn’t work well with some games.

I'm considering returning the Quest Pro and getting the Aero instead due to this sale... What's holding me back is the extra cost of base stations. Do I really need two for DCS?

Thx! Still have a few days before I need to decide, the upgrade would cost me at least 500USD. My only issue with the Quest Pro is the increased shimmering on textures in the distance compared to the G2. I assume its due to the lower resolution. The Aero seems like the perfect mix of the G2 and Quest Pro.
I have a 4090 on the way (should arrive in late December).

Use Necksafer utility (link in the very 1st post) for checking six for OXR mode not sure if it works in OVR mode, the latest beta has issues with the Aero but beta2 works really well. One base is needed for sit down VR games. But 2 is much better.

Also note that the Aero has no Bluetooth capability so you need to turn on/off the Base station either manually or via Bluetooth sleep mode via special apps from your phone or PC.
