My (very limited) experience in a helicopter makes me think that you'd be wearing a good set of noise suppression headphones in a very noisy environment- which is probably why you can't hear the door handle click :-)

Cheers.

You know, compared to Western aircraft, they REALLY ARE! I am amazed at the construction of Russian helicopter parts, it's like you're flying a tractor with rotors.

Rotor blades and props are balanced to ensure a minimal amount of vibration during operation. The cockpit wouldn't vibrate any more when starting than during normal operation unless the rotor spins through the airframe's resonant range during startup. As for vibration in general, you tend to notice it more through sound and physical sensation, than you do visually, if you are on/within the vibrating object (your vision doesn't become distorted, your eyes tend to fixate on a position in space and maintain that fixation despite your motion - visual damping).

You are wearing a helmet with noise attenuating headset inside. The switches make noise as a game interface feature, if they did not click you would not be sure that had pressed them and so would hit them again in many cases. This of course is not accurate to the actual aircraft but in the actual aircraft you would see and feel the switch move. Seems to me like a good compromise.
