laldren1983 Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 When I followed the instructions to install openxr, It does dramatically improve the frame count of VR,but there is a new problem:When I went into the main interface of DCS world , Everything seems normal, but When I started playing the game,In the left eye of my hp reverb g2,There is a large black triangle in the picture. So , What’s going on here? How do I solve the Black Zone problem? (I replaced the following three files in the \DCS World OpenBeta\bin 1.D3DCompiler_47.dll 2. opencomposite.ini 3. openvr_api.dll ) OCXR_WMR_ACC.rar
edmuss Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 I suspect that's due to the custom mask, I've never touched it personally but I think details of it are in the initial setup guide on here. I am having the same issue. When you are writing about "custom mask", what are you referring to then? Are we talking about the VR mask inside DCS itself or in some .ini file?
nikoel Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 (edited) He is talking about the OpenComposite.ini file. Inside there is a custom mask This version of OpenComposite (where we dragged the 3 files into the bin folder - 6.1.6 I believe was the version?) is loooong outdated but unfortunately refuses to die. I think this is because of the “instructional” YouTube videos that get self promoted in hope of getting more subscribers and give people the outdated info Edited May 22, 2022 by nikoel

So in short, does it mean that we can delete the opencomposite.ini file? Do we also need the other files still?

Burt Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 I’m confused now so there is nothing to drag into the DCS folder? I just watched a YouTube video about installing OXR ect. as I wanted to try it out this weekend. Is there an updated version on how to ? Burt Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Disregard , I just went over your thread nikoel. Thanks ! M1Combat Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 @nikoel Well... I had a working OXR before the open composite installer. I skipped it for the first few versions for a while simply because what I had was working and working very well. I cleaned up my install of all mods and ran skate's cleaner with the extra options... Then ran through edmuss's install doc step by step to update to the newest setup... It wouldn't work. It worked fine in SVR when I set it that way, could go to the OXR environment etc... headset worked... all of it... but no OXR in DCS. I had to do the manual open composite style install where I copied a .dll into the DCS folder to get it to work. Never watched an install vid at all. I suspect something happened during the step where open composite downloaded the dll's. I think it just placed them in the wrong spot or something. edmuss Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 It wasn't my guide, @nikoelis the man for that I also only recently switched from 0.6.3 to the new merged global openxr switcher when DCS updated last. Uninstalled all mods via OVGME, repaired and checked for extra files via the ED batch files (available from the FAQs section of the website) and then ran the DCS update. Once it had done its thing I ran the extra files check again for good measure and nothing found. I've never used skatezillas app and if you follow the logical steps it's not required. Reinstalled the mods I'm using via OVGME (Taz's trees for Caucasus and Syria, along with his low bit depth A10C normal maps) and then ran the new global openxr doodah. I renamed the d3dcompiler to. Initially I had a -2 error, it would appear that a rouge compiler had been copied in by DCS, deleted it and the old renamed one and it's worked perfectly since. M1Combat Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Sorry I thought that was your guide :). Your experience doesn't matter relative to mine though :). I'm glad yours worked for sure... Mine did not. I had to do the manual open composite install (the dll copy). I don't know why. As I said I think the problem happened when OC downloaded the .dll's. I had run it as admin. I'm a systems and Network engineer. Certified for both but more importantly I've been playing with computers and gaming since I was a little kid... I'm now 44. I have a lot of experience both breaking and fixing gaming issues and very high level IT issues. Complex PC procedures are not foreign to me. I followed the destructions to the letter :). Then I ran through them just to be sure about 5 times before I posted my issue in the other thread. There seems to be a few other people who had similar issues. I then started poking around and decided to try manually copying the .dll as outlined in the OC instructions on their page. It worked thankfully :). Again... No idea why it didn't work initially and what's more important... I don't care :). It works NOW after I had to copy the OC dll into the folder manually 1 Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600 Saitek X-65F and Fanatec Club-Sport Pedals (Using VJoy and Gremlin to remap Throttle and Clutch into a Rudder axis)
nikoel Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 So there is a bug in OpenComposite that is apparent for some people. There is a way to correct it if you want to go through the steps. However the 'per app' install works really well as well Here is the paste from the discord discussing that same thing: null
