Aigle2 Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Hi. A few questions : 1) Is the aligment reinitialisation procedure in the manual correct ? It states : Set NAV MODE switch and WCS switch to OFF. Allow TID displays to collapse. Proceed with normal start sequence. Set NAV MODE switch to OFF. Set NAV MODE switch to desired align mode. Set NAV MODE switch to INS. Verify system in INS (IN acronym on TID). Cycle NAV MODE switch to OFF and back to desired alignment mode. It seems weird to be forced to do Nav mode INS => OFF => CVA => INS => OFF => CVA => INS to finish the sequence... 2) I can't succeed in fixing alignment with TACAN. I set a waypoint on a beacon I receive, about 40 nm from me. When starting the fix, the printed error increases, instead of decreasing. I'm flying straight, with autopilot altitude on. What's wrong ?
iantron Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 I successfully followed the procedure for TACAN INS fix on Fly and Wire a few weeks ago. It's well written. Make sure you're entering the details for your desired TACAN station into the CAP too.https://flyandwire.com/2019/07/12/f-14-ins-tacan-update/ 1
Aigle2 Posted May 27, 2022 Author Posted May 27, 2022 (edited) I didn't select TACAN station on TID. Will try. Thanks a lot for the reference ! Edited May 27, 2022 by Aigle2

What's wrong ? 1) I've never heard of such a sequence. Can't you just put the mode switch to INS and it starts (re)aligning? 2) You need to select the Waypoint on the CAP or hook it on the TID. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
