GunnDawg Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 So I was out and about killin some infantry in a mission I made. Just practicing my skills and what not. Then I decided I would try a rolling landing. Seeings as how I have never done one, nore have I seen the video tutorials on how to yet. I figured it would be an epic fail moment for me. I brought it in like a plane, but slower obviously and wow, it was PERFECT. Center line and everything. Looked beautiful. I even went to replay to watch it from outside view. Then I turned noob...... I touched down, all went well, was rollin down the runway...Then I remembered I had remapped my keys and completely forgot where the brake was. Needless to say, I rolled right off the runway. haha. Anyways, thought I would share that with you all. Finally kinda/sorta getting the hang of hovering, and trim btw. (For those of you who have been following my posts, and putting up with me)
ED Team Groove Posted December 23, 2008 ED Team Posted December 23, 2008 To avoid that overshooting you should have taken off again ;) Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
GunnDawg Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 yeah I suppose. I figured I'd let it ride out and maybe stop on the last 1ft of runway :)
LIONPRIDE Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 To avoid that overshooting you should have taken off again ;) Do the 'quick-start' keystrokes also work as a 'quick-STOP' function?! KILL THE ENGINES ... ! ! ahhhhhh ! . - - - - - - - - TO FLY IS HEAVEN. Acedy Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) You can also drop the collective down to minimum and pull the cyclic back all the way, this will slow you down as well. EDIT: sorry, I just checked it and actually you have to add some collective to make it work. Yea, as you hear the sound of the rotors hitting each other and pieces going in all directions :megalol: Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! bradmick Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 If you pull in just a little bit of pitch, say under 5% (not enough to lift off) you should be fine. It'd be interesting to see an Aircrew Training Manual (or whatever the equivalent is in Russia) to learn how to actually do all the maneuvers correctly. If any of the ED crew actually has an ATM equivalent and its releasable that would be mighty handy! Brad
JRMurray Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Do the 'quick-start' keystrokes also work as a 'quick-STOP' function?! Yep: Left-Win + End (if my memory is correct) Joel @ CYVR (closer to CYNJ really)
