Jones11C Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Fellas, I've downloaded BS many, many times, and I keep getting the same problem. The game starts, I can access the main page or top level page - but anytime I try to actually fly, it takes me back out to the operating system, and an error comes up. The error says: "The application's module DCS.exe was modified. It may be damaged or infected by a virus. Scan your computer for viruses and reinstall the application." I have scanned my computer numerous times, and I am coming up with a bug that Symantec leaves alone. The file I have that apparently is bad is "TDSSc6de.tmp". Not sure what the hell that is or means though. Basically, the game has installed, and works just fine until it comes time to fly - that's when my computer or the game stops cooperating. Any ideas? I'm about to throw this computer out of the window. I'm running on XP. If anyone can help me, I promise that you will have saved a life, and possibly the world. How does that sound? 1
Murphyd Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Disclaimer - I have absolutely no idea if any of the following is correct. The application probably knows what its talking about when it complains about DCS.exe being modified. I imagine that this is part of its built in copy protection. If your computer is infected with a virus then it seems reasonable to assume that Black Shark is being infected during the install - this would explain the problem being repeatable. Your reference to a bad file, "TDSSc6de.exe" is unclear. Is this being reported as a virus infection by Symantec? If so, does your virus software give you an option to quarantine or remove the virus? It's impossible to say with any certainty but it does sound like a virus in which case, either update Symantec so that it can remove the infection or try a different virus scanner. If all else fails you might need to consider re-installing your operating system. -- Murphy
Acedy Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Shot in the dark: try to deactivate your antivirus before installing (or running) BS, maybe it prevents the copying of certain files. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***
Acedy Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) Another question: did you use the Russian version of BS before installing the English version? If so, did you uninstall the Russian version and install the English version into the same directory? There is another user here who seemed to have the same problem as you, and my guess is that his problem was caused by installing different versions of Black Shark. When you uninstall BS the registry keys will remain on your system, that way you do not loose a deactivation if you want to reinstall it again. However it may be the case that when you install another version (into the same directory) that the old registry keys somehow intermingle with this new version. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35598 Edited December 24, 2008 by Acedy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***
Jones11C Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Nope, I installed the English version only. I've done virus scans with both Symantec and McAfee, and everything seems to be checking out. However, I'm still not able to fly even after reinstalling after both system scans for viruses.
ACUTech Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Well you seem to have a/some process(es) running in background and invading other processes. Typical with malware like keyloggers and the like. Trust me I know from experience Symantec & McAfee both forget many viruses and other malware programs. Try Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Eset NOD32. Both have online scanners that can help you. They both have a much better detection rate then Norton and McAfee. You can also scan for spywares/malware with A-Squared Free, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Terminator. One other thing you can scan with is PrevX CSI. PrevX CSI won't let you clean the infected files unless you buy the "Pro" version but most of the time what you can do is take note of the infected files and delete them in Safe Mode. Also run Smitfraudfix, Combofix, Roguefix and SDFix. These last four scanners will get rid of most malwares not detected by anti-virus softwares. Make sure you read the proper procedures for all softwares before running them. Finally but not last, you can also run HijackThis and post the log file so we can examine it. Good luck with that =ACU=Tech TECH Systemes Computer 1 Computer 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Airway Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 As Acedy said, deactivate your AV before installation.
