I seem to remember that when Supercarrier was first announced there was a feature listing of being able to walk to your jet (presumably from the paraloft?)

I haven't heard anything about this in years or seen it on the roadmap, but it sure seemed cool. Is it still planned?

Hey Bignewy,

I'm still looking for a more "official" version, but I've found Wags mention it at least once, in a Mudspike interview:

With regards to hints of a squadron room in the upcoming super carrier module – can you please elaborate a little more on the features especially in regards to multiplayer? Have you thought about integrating common online collaboration technology for briefing/debriefing like showing slides or even providing templates for common briefing topics?

While still very much subject to change, the Supercarrier briefing room is designed to allow players to view the briefing, arm their jets, watch the PLAT CAM, and walk to the jet. This Briefing room will not be delivered during the early access period.

Hi,

Never an official feature and in the quote clearly stated it was subject to change, the walk to jet that was mentioned was as a transient to aircraft from briefing room, not as animations.

VR use here.

For "simulate" walking and do my walkaround i use Object Free Camera View key and then i use Zoom In Slow (or mouse wheel but it´s faster), View UP/Down Slow, and View Left/Right Slow keys. It´s my workaround with the tools we have. Not perfect but it allows me to explore in VR outside the airframe.

EDIT: those views made me taking the bus to the airframe. Our imagination is the limit.

About carrier ops: "The younger pilots are still quite capable of holding their heads forward against the forces. The older ones have been doing this too long and know better; sore necks make for poor sleep.'
