Gunfreak Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 New joystick base, with quick change for 3 diffrent control styles, most intresting for me as I have a designated F16 stick, is the force sensing option, I guess it's gonna try and be close to the real control style of the real F16 stick. 1 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Dragon1-1 Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 It looks impressive, might get it one day. I was planning to get the Viper grip at one point, so the base looks like a solid investment at some point in the future, particularly since they appear to have replicated the limited displacement mechanism. I hope the prices don't blow up until then. Also, it looks like Winwing is really shaping up to be the new top dog in the high end controller market. Now, if only they made a set of rudder pedals, that'd certainly get my attention.
bpremus Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Are there any existing mods for Orion base V1, to prevent this return to middle option like in V2? AMD FX 8350 4.0Ghz, 16gb DDR3, MSI R9 390, MS FF2 & CH Throttle PRO, track IR 4 & Lenovo Explorer VMR
BuzzU Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) Force sensing is a love-hate mod. They've had them for years for the Cougar and Warthog. Some guys can't get used to it and others love it. Edited July 23, 2022 by BuzzU Buzz
Dragon1-1 Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Note that previous force sensing concepts were fixed stick ones. The Winwing base will be limited displacement, just like Realsimulator one. I haven't heard anyone complain about that. DIY mods just don't measure up to a bespoke solution.
BuzzU Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Meaning it will have some movement before getting firm? Kind of like a loadcell in a brake? Buzz
Xup Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Looking at this video, it looks like the Threaded nut to fix the stick to the base has got smaller ?, not being able to swap older grips to the new base!.

The knurled nut is exactly the same size, all grips in the WW range fit fine! Must be an optical illusion, if you look at the vid at 2.57 the new base connecting nut looks a fair bit smaller then the old one on it's left. Edited July 25, 2022 by Xup Pic added
MustangSally Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Yep, just an illusion Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
soulindk Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Can confirm that the older F18 grip fits the new Orion2 base.
