Countermeasures

15 flares and 30 chaff feels really low given how many you need to spoof a missile (in DCS). Why are countermeasure stocks so low in cold war airplanes?

Because that was the way they were Buildt during that time?

I usually only take flares. Old Fox 1 can be avoided be notching and maneuvering, flares are important in a Dogfight 

Edit: Just remember that you are not supposed to fight Hornets or Vipers that use Fox 3 with the Mirage F1.

I think the nature of older missiles makes less flare ok. They tended to be fooled a lot easier by the flare than modern versions.
