10-20 minutes startup time

Hello all,

I hope someone can help me, I can't figure it out on my own.

My DCS has always run without any problem. From one day to the next it took an extremely long time to start up.

So long that it sometimes takes me 20 minutes to get to the main screen.

I went looking for a problem but couldn't find it. Removed all mods at first but it took a long time.

Then checked the integrity, but no result there either.

Then reinstalled the whole game ( files in C:>users>savedgames>DCS ) not replaced.

Still no result and long boot.

Then delete the C:>users>savedgames>DCS.

Then a quick startup. After playing a few times again extreme delay and 20 minutes of startup.

Removing C:>users>savedgames>DCS makes that I have a fast boot again 1 or 2 times.

Attached are the logs, I see a lot of them but I don't understand much of them.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Also, please ensure you're NOT running DCS as administrator.

And add "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin" folder as an exception to your antivirus software.

Thank you for the reply, DXdiag as an attachment

Many thanks.

Your pagefile is stored on your D:\ drive, which is a HDD, a slow drive compared to your SSDs.

Your C:\ drive is almost full (27GB left).

You should first give your C:\ drive some air: move some big files to D:\ or E:\ drives (preferably the E:\ drive, because it's way faster than the D:\.

Once this is done, move your pagefile to the E:\ drive (plenty of space + fastest drive).

Thank you,
Done all this, unfortunately to no avail, still start time of 10+ minutes.
Again deleted the files in saved games and now start time of 20 seconds.

I'll try to manually set all joystick settings instead of copying the old ones, maybe that's where the problem lies.

I don't think so. I'll compare our logs to better understand which step is taking so long.

Your DCS takes more than 10 minutes to load plugins from the CoreMods folder (on the E:\ drive). Mine takes only 6 seconds.

Then this step takes 31 seconds (200ms seconds for me):

2022-07-31 07:32:02.989 INFO GRAPHICSVISTA: renderer: 'dx11backend.dll'
2022-07-31 07:33:33.357 INFO DX11BACKEND: DX11Renderer initialization (w:1920 h:1080 fullscrn:0 vsync:0 adapter:0 monitor:0 shaderErrors:1)

Then this step alone takes more than 8 minutes!

2022-07-31 07:42:13.428 INFO EDCORE: (dDispatcher)enterToState_:5

It looks like another program is messgin with DCS. DO ou have an antimalware?

You should open a support ticket. Log into the DCS website, click Support, then Create a new ticket.

Thanks for the help, I will create a support ticket.

Strange thing is, I have again deleted the saved game files. and now it runs super fast again.

In the meantime, I'm going to put the backup folders back 1 by 1 and see when things go wrong again.

As antivirus I use surfshark with the exception for the DCS folders. It includes anti-malware.

Small update:
After restarting the PC, the boot times are extremely long again

Boot times of the PC or start of DCS?

If I were you I'd turn off that AV solution and go with the stock Windows Defender one as a test.

As long as you don't surf any crack/hack or porn sites, don't open any unknown attachments etc. You'll be totally safe.

I mean DCS boot times.

Have now completely removed surfshark, I put it on it a few weeks ago for the VPN to bypass download times in steam.
Now after restarting the pc, with windows defender enabled, dcs works as normal again, fast boot times until now.
