Better rotor effect - New prop tech/AH-64 Rotor Blur

Recommended Posts

I understood it's more or less planned to update everything that spins in DCS with new prop technology.

I think helicopters should be priority, especially since we see what can be done with the Apache.

Look at this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9K1n092JWs

This is exactly how the Hind rotor should look. Fast, blurred and consistent. The tail rotor of any heli is like a warbird prop, visually. There is no reason it should look different than the current amazing warbird propellers we got since new Prop Tech came in DCS.

Currently, it's still the old 3D transparent geometries, but some weirdiness is going on on the rendering, two blades out of the five are completely out of sync and look unlinked from pitch horns :

Hope this will get addressed before dust settle on this one.

It is truly a masterpiece module and glad to see it's still getting some love and additions from the dev, so it's definitely the time to get this rotor fixed and perfected once for all.

All the best,

Valentin

I agree that Mi-24 should get same level of rotor animation as AH-64!!!

However there is a reason the twist is hard to see. The Mi-24 blades only have 3 degrees of twist. The Mi-8 has 8 degrees of twist! Comparing real life photos to DCS, in both cases the 3 degrees of twist in Mi-24 blades is only barely noticeable in a perfect straight on view.

Indeed it's noticeable it's much less ! But still it's there ...

It's like if they forgot the F-16 or F-18 slight anhdedral. I don't think it would ever be accepted lol

This forum never fails to impress me! I have never seen such aircraft technology enthusiasm that even rotor blade bending and warping is discussed. Now I begin to understand why DCS is the best helicopter sim 😉 you guy notice literally everything every small detail that is wrong and how instead these machines should behave. A true rotorhead enthusiasm forum 👍
