VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 As the camera system "changed" making tracking shots "hard" to make, I see somebody uses head tracking to do such shots. Until I get a true 4K VR headset, I would like to ask: is a head tracker worth the investment for this purpose? If so, which one should I take a look at? Thanks in advance. I Fly, Therefore I Am. MAXsenna Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I would say yes. You don't need the original one, if you find that one too expensive, and you can of course sell it later. https://delanengineering.com/ 1 1
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) Thanks. The link you have put up is more (edit: I mean less) than half the price I see on Amazon and the Aimxyz one recommended by people elsewhere. MAXsenna Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Just now, VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants said: Thanks. The link you have put up is about half the price I see on Amazon and the Aimxyz one recommended by people elsewhere. Been using mine for close to four years now. They didn't have the "wireless" version at the time. But I've velcro'ed a small powerbank to the opposite side of my headset, that lasts for two days. The real TrackIR software is probably better and easier to setup. But when you have turned in the curves in OpenTrack, you'll never touch them again. Only issue I have, is that I keep constantly moving my head in about almost any other game, so it's only games that supports headtracking for me now, (ARMA does), which is a shame in Cloudpunk. Cheers! 1

VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) If I am getting one, the next problem will be how to use it for video making... Thanks guys! Hang on! Can I use an old mobile device and OpenTrack instead to do tracking shots? Edited August 19, 2022 by VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants I Fly, Therefore I Am. MAXsenna Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 What do you use to record what's on you're screen today? I'm not sure I follow. I just record with OBS or Nvidia to record whatever's on my screen. And, yes, if you have a web camera or an old phone or similar with a camera, you can use that for face tracking. Some are happy with it, some thinks the tracking ain't good enough. I tried it loong time ago, because I was cheap and wasn't aware of TrackIR alternatives. It's probably better today, but I never liked it. 1
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 I mean making a tracking shots like F3 but better. I thought we could use LCtrl(?) + F11 and mouse wheel for such shots but it seems to stop working now / much harder to do. Thanks, I am looking at mobile phone solution first or may be IR tracker. 1 I Fly, Therefore I Am. One cannot go around not saying "Thank you" every time these days, can't you?
