Is there a way to change the weather mid-game? Or at least the wind? I assume there's like a developer console or something similar that can access the in-game parameters, anyone know how to access that?

Thanks!

Yes.

Go here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3319271/

This includes some guidance on how dynamic weather works and gives a mission template for each map. (As it stands right now, you can't access the dynamic weather tab unless you're working with a mission that already has dynamic weather in it, so the templates are very helpful.)

Be prepared to spend a lot of time playing with the weather until you get it where you want it.

??? I have no problem accessing the tab when creating a mission. Is that what you actually mean?

Sorry, I worded that poorly. Chicki is right, you can access the tab, but unless the mission was previously created to have dynamic weather, then the dynamic weather tab doesn't work.

It's all explained the file I linked above.

Sorry. It always works for me. That’s why I’m confused. Unless, perhaps, it’s map specific?

Edit 2:

Where does it explain that the dynamic weather tab doesn’t work unless the mission already has dynamic weather in it?

The Dynamic tab is there, but at least according to the first page of the PDF within the file I linked to (which is dated from October of last year), the Dynamic tab doesn't allow you to do anything with the weather unless the mission was originally created under the old Dynamic Weather scheme.

I have had some success using the mission templates included in the file I linked to and haven't tried to develop dynamic weather using a mission created in the current version of DCS. If the Dynamic tab is now working, that's great.

There is a load of useful information in that download, though, and I strongly urge anyone attempting to use dynamic weather to read and understand it thoroughly. Also, be prepared for a lot of trial and error.

We seem to be talking past each other. Yes, the tab is there. It is also usable to create and save dynamic weather in missions both old and new, whether or not the old mission already has dynamic weather. That‘s why I was confused by what you were saying. It works as it should for me.

As for the PDF you’re referring to, it says that the tab doesn’t exist unless the mission contains dynamic weather. And that’s certainly not the case today. It’s been a year or so, since I’ve paid any attention to dynamic weather. So that statement might have been true when it was written. But it isn’t true now…at least not in the OpenBeta.

EDIT: Dynamic weather used to give some great weather effects but, since the 2.5 cloud update (the one prior to the most recent static weather clouds and still used by dynamic weather), it’s most effective for creating winds that change as the systems move across the map. The cloud cover/rain/wind effects that can be created are a shadow of what was once possible.

I stand corrected.
