I fly A/F-18 and would like to use Vaicom to change radio stations on primary and aux.

in VR I find it difficult to change station with mouse, they jump around with the mouse.

are commands already in Vaicom if not can I add them.

Selecting frequencies and presets are supported in the Hornet for COM1 and COM2. Have no idea what the auxiliary is. The command should be in the VAICOM profile.

Cheers!

Hmmm, seems correct, the commands are:

Select xxx decimal xx for the frequency

And

Select channel xx for the presets.

You have to press the corresponding TX for COM1/COM2.

Quite honestly, I don't know if it works with Easy Comms.

The radio button that you use will define which radio gets tuned, and first you should just try using the actual name of things like "Nellis, request landing" and vaicom will actually sort that out for you most of the time and tune that radio and then send that message. You can even just try "Tower, request landing" and it goes based on distance and chooses the closest!

Most of us just use the provided commands and you would say "Radio tune, one two seven decimal five" .

Important to note here is that your Hornet's radios are not both the same.  UHF (COM1) can only tune station numbers above 200.00 while VHF (COM2) can tune the lower numbers than that. if you are outside that range, vaicom will just fail.

There is no effective way to ask for specific channel numbers (if you have noticed, most modern aviation radios can either use a preset channel number "2" as well as a specific channel "127.50"), in case youre trying to do that.

@Whistler_RIO

Nice advice, but some more info is needed to make it work.
I thought OP specifically asked for how to tune the frequencies and the presets in the Hornet, hence my answer. 😊
To have it working the way you say:

"Nellis, request landing"

You need to have "Instant Select" checked in the VAICOM Control Panel preferences and have tuned the radios correctly. Now if you have Easy Comms on in the DCS settings, it will tune your radios. OR if Easy Comms is off, you can do it with the "Select" command, but the "Select Tunes Radios" need to be checked in the VAICOM settings. This does not work in every module. But does in the Hornet.

"Radio tune, one two seven decimal five"

This is a Jester command, and won't work in the Hornet.

Like I wrote

Select xxx decimal xx for the frequency
Select channel xx for the presets

Are the correct ones, and will not work in every module.

Cheers!

@MAXsenna Oh i see what you mean. thanks for the correction. ya i thought all four of the extension-pack commands (radio tune, map marker, link tune, tacan tune, etc) were somehow just simple constructers that didnt run inside vaicom, but now i see how thats AIRIO .  I guess i didnt ever need (or try) to use that command outside of Jester lol. (i use the Logitech radio panel now.  it works really well through DCS-BIOS! highly recommend)

The reason for changing radio presets is I am doing the Raven 1 Campaign and they do a lot of switching stations.

I just thought it would be easier to just Vaicom.

i not able to get Vaicom to switch presets with voice commands, no big deal tho

Really? That's strange. Can you double check you have the commands in the profile? They will be at the bottom. If they're not there, we'll help you get them!

Cheers!
