DDR5 Performance Discussion
Rubber Biscuit replied to Krupi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am planning on upgrading my system soon going for a RTX4090, here’s my thoughts. my current system if 4 years old and has a ton of programs with a bunch of Steam stuff. I have a lot of configuration of DCS, Voice attack, pedal software to redo. I have a long list of programs that I need to reload and configure, find and redo software user keys. So I am heavily thinking to go with AMD 7000 series to not have to go through this anytime soon. how great would it be to just drop in a newer CPU without all the hassle of configuring a new system To save a little for a outdated platform that needs to be completely replaced in the next update is just not worth it to me, plus all the hours and work to setup and get working again, -
Being a VR user of a mid power system 2080it Vive Pro 1 and trying to get decent fps would be standing on a big soap box jumping up and down if there was a update that would jive me a boost in VR performance. I do appreciate that DCS is moving forward with game improvements but improving game performance would be a huge help to all users.

I am thinking if you are seeing similar performance from 3090 thru 4090 then there must be some bottlenecking, maybe CPU then. It’s important to have a balanced system GPU, CPU, RAM to maximize performance. The new question is how much CPU do you need for a RTX-4090 to become the bottleneck. I don’t want to spend that much on a expensive GPU and have the CPU slow it down, better to push the GPU to its limits.

New PC build 32 gig or 64 gig ram
Rubber Biscuit replied to Rubber Biscuit's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is a very interesting discussion, unfortunately there is little real world testing. Just seeing how much ram is being used doesn’t tell how that captured ram is actually used or how it effects the performance ( fps ). There are lots of game testing videos in regards to hardware but almost none cover the unique demands of DCS. the best way to tell is to run a system with 32 gig then switch to 64 gig and record the difference on a server load or Syria map. Building a DCS VR system it getting expensive and deciding where to spend to maximize performance is challenging, to get the most out of your investment and not creating a bottleneck holding back overall performance. It’s also easy to over spend building a system for little performance gain. as a side note: i am beginning to think that the computing power needed to run DCS is one reason holding back DCS from becoming more main stream. -
I am building a new PC for VR with RTX-4090, not sure on CPU yet still waiting on upcoming reviews for Intel & AMD along with pricing. I guess it’s smart to get all the ram you will need in 2 sticks vs 4 sticks for performance and compatibility. is 32 gigs enough for DCS, have you seen the demand go higher than 32 gigs and will 64 make a difference. Most likely I will go with DDR5. 64 gigs will add a bit more on a already costly build. maybe getting better quality 32 gigs would be money better spent then going for 64 gigs.

The reason for changing radio presets is I am doing the Raven 1 Campaign and they do a lot of switching stations. I just thought it would be easier to just Vaicom. i not able to get Vaicom to switch presets with voice commands, no big deal tho

I have looked in the profile and not sure what the command is to change channels on com1,com2. tried “ select stations (number) as in the profile tried “ select channel ( number ) as in the manual no luck yet any one know the command for selecting radio stations on com1 & com2 i am using easy communication thanks

I fly A/F-18 and would like to use Vaicom to change radio stations on primary and aux. in VR I find it difficult to change station with mouse, they jump around with the mouse. are commands already in Vaicom if not can I add them.
