Hey everyone,

sadly and very unfortunately, our changes for this patch have not shipped this time around due to an unfortunate series of smaller mishaps in the publishing process and miscommunication. Not to be repeated and lesson learned.

This patch was to see, amongst other things, the next larger overhaul in the AIM-54 as well as various other medium and minor features and fixes making it to the F-14 and Viggen. Instead, these improvements will ship in September together with the next series of features we'll get done by then.

We'll detail the AIM-54 changes in a post on the forums to give you a preview until then.

Apologies for the non-existent showing.  We set our sights on September and beyond and hope to make it a major, wrinkle-free update for both aircraft.

Thanks for letting us know Mike.  Would it be possible to see a complete list of what problems you currently have tracked for the F-14 and what you're working on?  Perhaps we could pin it to the top of the F-14 Bugs & Problems Forum?  There seems to be a bit of confusion about what your team are and are not aware of.  It's gotten to the point where the key information is scattered amongst so many threads it's no longer efficient.  It's like a hard drive that needs defragmenting.

I believe sharing this 'snagging list' with the community will help focus us all on what's left to test and provide feedback on.

Unfortunately not at the moment as a living document, a public bug tracker takes a lot of time simply to maintain. Currently I do not think that there is a bug we are not aware of, we keep checking the bug section, forums and also other social media frequently, plus our fairly large test team serves us a bridge in case we miss something. In terms of reporting there is no need to pre-occupy yourselves: rather have a bug reported twice than not at all, so if you feel like you want something reported simply do so please. Thank you!

Those things happen. What about a deal? Post just one WIP picture of the Heatblur DCS F-4 and all is forgiven. 😉

Soon. 🙂

Okay, do you have Heading Hold tracked as a current issue?

Absolutely. I thought I replied to you on that in the bug thread, but seems like I forgot, my apologies. We're currently reworking parts of the AP again, which we believe will let us model the inner workings even more realistically and avoiding odd behavior at the same time. FYI, HDG hold does kinda work, only that it weaves back and forth with a +/-2-5° bank. That you could not autolevel below 5° bank however I could not reproduce, it does so clearly on my end. 5° shows very shallow on the hud or VDI, so you could be under the impression you are banking less than you actually are, which happened quite often to me, surprising me time and time again how little 5° bank is when aimed at in the HUD or VDI.

Else there is another underlying issue with hdg hold in relation to mag var changing, which we are currently looking at, hoping it will get rid of the banking (which is kind of trying to adjust for a changing magvar).

Okay, thank you Mike.  To clarify, before the last couple of patches auto-level was very definitive when you threw the Heading Hold switch (with AP engaged obviously). Now it does absolutely nothing, below 5 degree bank angle or otherwise, at least on my end.  Ground Track auto-levels the plane just fine, Heading Hold does not.  My current version is: 2.7.17.29140.  I've never had any custom mods installed and have not monkeyed with anything. I have no wish to monopolize your time on this, but something's up.  I'll quite happily reinstall my beloved F-14 module if it's a problem unique to myself.

EDIT:  Turns out it was our old friend the deadzones.  I'd forgotten we currently need at least a 1% deadzone in the roll axis, otherwise Heading Hold was not able to grab.  Thanks once again to this great Community for their help.

TL;DR

Airquake servers have been spared one more month. Next month there will be rending of garments, wearing of sack-cloths, and the lamentations of their women will drown out all.

Phoenix will blot out the sun, and there will be no fighting in the shade.

If you are asking in terms of a hotfix, that is not in our hands, if asking about a written update, then yes, that is planned. 🙂
